Quote:Air temperatures over the Arctic landscape were higher over the past year than at any other time since 1900, and the circumpolar north continues to change rapidly as the climate warms, according to an annual report released Tuesday by government and academic scientists.

The 2015 Arctic Report Card, a project sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, details the state of weather, sea ice, snow cover and marine and wildlife habitat in the Arctic and subarctic, and how those have changed as the region continues to warm at about twice the global pace.

“We know this is due to climate change. And its impacts are creating major challenges for Arctic communities who depend on the region for sustenance and cultural identity. We also know what happens in the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic,” Rick Spinrad, NOAA’s chief scientist, said at a news conference at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco, where the report card was unveiled.

Quote:Some of the changes highlighted in the report card were predicted through modeling, but that is not always the case, Overland said.

“Almost every year we’re seeing new surprises on the rapidity of the types of changes that we’re seeing. So the real world with the data in the report card is the real information that things are rapidly evolving,” he said.

People that don't know any better?
Great, I feel awful for those poor Polar Bears.

I would imagine it also affects the phytoplankton and krill that live in the artic regions, and which feed enormous portions of our wildlife.
Hopefully everyone concerned about this has immediately taken steps to alleviate their carbon footprint, right? RIGHT?

I am going to eat a steak for supper. Cows contribute to greenhouse gases.

I feel so green!

No, I'm talking about some of the largest organisms by total biomass on the planet.
100 years... out of 4.5 billion. Outstanding logic!

Wow, are you a lawyer? Your argument bulletproof!

I mean like... you should start emailing these climate scientists about how obviously wrong their methods are.

Sure, because that's all the information we have.
Waiting to see our gov't to advise us that they plan to kick off a plan to fast track nuke plants plus incentivize the building of these plants. If it's a foregone conclusion that AGW is a major concern, this is the only viable option to rapidly change the carbon footprint. I'll be waiting to see what our gov't comes out with.
This warming has probably created a few terrorists.
We haven't had winter yet.

I support Nuclear energy as much as you do, but it's completely ludicrous to act as if that's evidence of AGW not existing or that peoples denial of AGW plays no part in that debacle.
