...which doesn't mean squat historically when you consider that now 80 of 128 D-I schools are going to "bowls."

That's analogous to NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament taking 200 teams instead of 68.

Yep, comparing coaches' bowl productions is a moot point due to the ever changing landscape.

Molde would've gone to 6(!) consecutive bowls if this year's system was in place then. Nowadays, by saying you went to two bowls in a row is synonymous with saying you went two consecutive years without a losing season (and even Nebraska couldn't say that).

Cubit got us to 3. But over an 8 year span in the two-thousand aughts, that'd be just "ok."

Well, you can either highlight the positives and build on them, or obsess on the negatives and let them bring you down.

To any objective observer, WMU football has more positives than negatives at this moment. The past is behind us. Let it go.

I am proud of what is being accomplished, and am pleased for our players. I look forward to watching them in the Bahamas Bowl and am encouraged for next season.

If others want to be sullen and sarcastic about the few negatives and compound them with falsehoods and fabrications, that reflects more on their character than Western Michigan University football.

Go Broncos! 04-cheers

I expect to read a comment about how your bank account just got bigger for that statement. Or perhaps man crush, multi ID???

Waiting...perhaps the comeback will be new and creative? 05-stirthepot

Pretty cynical and disturbing comment. Frankly, pretty sad that you think anyone who posts something positive about WMU's football program is getting paid to do it.

Multi ID...the Major and DB could provide you plenty of background on that. Of course, DB will now have to do it away from this board, or under yet another ID.

My ID had never changed, and won't have too.

I am proud of the Bronco football program. If you aren't, that is your problem.

Sorry if this is not "creative" enough for you.

Sorry a 7 win season, including a victory over our rival at home and an upset of a ranked team on the road, along with a bowl game in the Bahamas is not enough for you.

Go Broncos!

Chill out. I meant that I expected one of the other posters to go on the attack, using one of the aforementioned tactics against your post.
...further, it was a slap against the other posters as their tactics are getting old. Thus the request for creativity.

Thank you for clarifying.
But, you are correct, I should not stir the pot

Given our much-tougher-than-last-year schedule, one can't complain about it, that's for sure. Last year we were 8-4 at this point, but we clearly had an easier schedule. Although our finish-line isn't monumentally better than last year, it's a step up -- in a different way too, tackling obstacles we couldn't have last year.

But this is all setting it up for Next Year. Next Year, for those who scoff at Fleck, and for those that praise him -- next year's going to be a real test where the pure-Fleck team truly is. Battling Cubit, having NIU+Toledo at home, @CMU but without their ginger-kid QB, and our tough G5 at home too. Can't wait! If we go 6-6 next year, or even 7-5 (without onslaught of key injuries), then I would say folks have room to criticize Fleck.
Next year has been hyped a lot. High expectations.

For me, it just looks like a fun year to be a Bronco, great home schedule, and year one that is all the Kid's.

I hope it does not get too high pressure. At the end of the day, it's just a game, right?

No, it's not just a game. It's 12 games + 1 or 2 post-season games. It's a BFD!! :)

I'd sleep with 65 year old 350lb heffer who wears a shower-curtain as a dress and a shower cap as her night cap if that meant us going 12-1! :)

Gender neutral if that meant us going 14-0 and going into the playoffs!! :)

We need to remember to bump this post when next season begins!
