Is Akron going to Idaho?
No word for Akron or CMU yet.
BGSU should have gone out west to play Boise, other than that it looks like a decent line up so far.
Akron to Boise v Utah State. Which means CMU will be in Detroit v Minnesota.

If Akron didn't need the extra practices, I would think they would just stay home.
I guess Fleck now gets to literally row the boat to get to the Bahamas.
I think GoDaddy gets first pick of MAC teams this year so I'm not sure if the MAC had the option to send BG somewhere else.
Akron v Utah St in Boise, just announced. 12/22 3:30pm ET

Yep. GoDaddy also had first pick last year, but they let the MAC send NIU to the Boca Bowl to play CUSA Champ, Marshall. So it was even more unlikely that GoDaddy would have given up the top pick this year.
A lot of great matchups and some winnable games. Should be a fun bowl season.

I am seeing a lot of bitching from BGSU fans about the location and opponent. Let me just say...do NOT take GASO lightly. WMU got caught off-guard and got shredded. Be careful with your words or they might come back to bite you.
Some very good match-ups for the MAC...chance to beat a ranked Temple team, and even though Boise State had a bit of an "off" year for them, they are a "name" program and a win there would certainlyl get noticed....too bad we couldn't send a team to San Diego that's in better shape than NIU (due to injuries and having to play a frosh QB who not ready yet). As noted, GoDaddy gets first pick...a shame BG couldn't go out to pay Boise as I think they could take them this year. It won't be easy for the MAC go win the majority of these games...some pretty tough match-ups really.

As a long-standing MAC fan who graduated from Miami in 1978, never thought I'd see the day that 7 MAC teams would go bowling.....of course I never thought that they'd be 40 bowl games, either!
P.S. Oh the irony in the MAC having a team play in Detroit! And CMU's fan base will "save their bacon" in terms of getting decent attendance as well. (which is why a MAC school should be in this bowl every year).

Is 7 games a MAC record? I assume so.

Wasn't the previous high around six games?

Love the Toledo/Temple game.

When does NIU get a QB back?
I agree, EMU Steve...UT-Temple is a great match-up. In most years, so would Boise-NIU. Appy State is no slouch this year, and MTSU played well the second half of the season. I'm guessing that there will be a number of games that Vegas considers a toss up or very close....the MAC may only be favored in only a couple of games, though.

Graham, their injured backup will be healed for the game. So he'll play -- no more true frosh as QB.

I expect NIU's D to step up, but it's going to come down to this: Is it Graham who beat Toledo & WMU? Or is it Graham who was getting a$$-pounded by Ohio at home before spraining his ankle or whatnot and having the true frosh take over? That'll be the difference maker.

I agree, I think these are some great match ups. But I doubt Temple will still be ranked.

Oh I didn't realize they were out already. I expected them to drop a couple more spots than they did.
Yeah, I thought that Temple might drop out, but as already noted they are #24 this week. Glad to hear Graham will be back for NIU...was painful watching that poor freshmen Fiedler in the MACC.

If they are going to be playing a Sunbelt or CUSA team, I think they'd rather play in warmer weather ...
... the way its set up now, the MAC is more likely to play a Big Ten or ACC team in the new Detroit bowl than they were likely to play a Big Ten team in the previous Detroit bowl. Occasionally the Big Ten and ACC will both have enough teams, but I think they will be subbing for either the Big Ten or the ACC more often than the number of times a Big Ten team showed up to play in Detroit.
