We had one starting OL playing in position for the A-State game before it started. We lost our starting center in the second quarter. For us, it was significant. It was still significant a week later when a limping Chapman started against Idaho. Go Bobcats.

I like Joey Jones, but sometimes I wish he showed a bit more emotion to fire the team up. I know if you're constantly fired up then it loses its effectiveness, so I don't need it all the time. But I'd like to see it from time to time.

I know what you mean, and I bet the team sees a different side of him than we do. I also don't like coaches that lose their cool. How can you expect your team to be disciplined if you're not?

Another recruiting class or two at the FBS level should improve that. The offense hasn't been the same since Beau went down. It is rumored that he will possibly be back for the bowl game but last weekend he was still in a cast riding around on one of those little scooters on the sidelines so he looks far from suiting up. App needs Beau and Gossett together on the right side. Having Chapman back at center near full strength against ULL helped a lot.

We will graduate over 20 seniors this year... Many of whom have had no significant playing time, and of the few standouts of that class.... One was a walk-on. That ought to tell you volumes about our depth and talent at the sunset of the Moore years.

The reality is it was the Jerry Moore effect. He hired McClain and allowed him to run players off. Several players went to Moore about McClain and were told to leave if they didn't like it. App's OL recruiting extend back thru Moore's tenure. His philosophy of recruiting a few players then relying on walk-ons, developed at Nebraska, hamstrung our offenses throughout his years. Oh what could have been....
