The loss of App's center against AState may be a sentimental favorite but really was any injury more influential than what happened at Ladd-Peebles? Trailing 21-14 at the half Blake Anderson chewed out his squad and punched a door breaking his hand. AState outscored the Jags 35-10 in the second half.
Most significant... Knighten against Mizzou. That was, without a doubt, a game/season changer.
Knighten getting hurt in the Missouri game while we had a lead, and putting a newbie in that led to the loss.

You type faster than me.
Most Significant:

Idaho losing like their entire defense

Sounds like your coach is a bright one.

I would say our entire O-line (barely exagerating) going down in the 4th was the more significant injury in that game.

Blake said it was the fourth or fifth time he had used that on a team but the first time he had managed to hurt himself.
Pre-season
DT Eddings - achilles

In season - 1st and 2nd string centers
Losing BJ Johnson for a portion of the season really changed our offense. Since he came back... big impact on the passing game.

We had one starting OL playing in position for the A-State game before it started. We lost our starting center in the second quarter. For us, it was significant. It was still significant a week later when a limping Chapman started against Idaho. Go Bobcats.

I like Joey Jones, but sometimes I wish he showed a bit more emotion to fire the team up. I know if you're constantly fired up then it loses its effectiveness, so I don't need it all the time. But I'd like to see it from time to time.

I know what you mean, and I bet the team sees a different side of him than we do. I also don't like coaches that lose their cool. How can you expect your team to be disciplined if you're not?

Hey, if we're nominating whole groups of people, then ULM has this award locked DOWN. They're starting that autopilot dummy from Airplane! at right guard right now.
Losing Beau Nunn at RT was a big blow for App. Then when another injury surfaced with Chapman at center against stAte it showed the lack of depth App still has on the OL, which is not surprising for a second year move up. Another recruiting class or two at the FBS level should improve that. The offense hasn't been the same since Beau went down. It is rumored that he will possibly be back for the bowl game but last weekend he was still in a cast riding around on one of those little scooters on the sidelines so he looks far from suiting up. App needs Beau and Gossett together on the right side. Having Chapman back at center near full strength against ULL helped a lot.

Is the OL problem a symptom of the transition to FBS or is it a result of the OL problems ya'll have had since 2011ish? I know ya'll went through a bad period when ya'll forgot to recruit OL, and it doesn't seem like you've really ever dug out of that hole.

The answer is both. Moore's recruiting really slipped starting in 2008 and left AppState in a real talent Gap... As evidenced by our horrible final season in FCS. We will graduate over 20 seniors this year... Many of whom have had no significant playing time, and of the few standouts of that class.... One was a walk-on. That ought to tell you volumes about our depth and talent at the sunset of the Moore years.
I'll let Fran address ours . . .

. . . He's really good at "injury speak."

The Bob McClain effect.

The reality is it was the Jerry Moore effect. He hired McClain and allowed him to run players off. Several players went to Moore about McClain and were told to leave if they didn't like it. App's OL recruiting extend back thru Moore's tenure. His philosophy of recruiting a few players then relying on walk-ons, developed at Nebraska, hamstrung our offenses throughout his years. Oh what could have been....
