pretty significant news here

Quote:Gov. Bill Haslam is expected to announce today a major restructuring of the state's public higher education system, likely including a plan leading to separate governing boards for the University of Memphis and other four-year universities in the Tennessee Board of Regents system.

Just stop it. Why would anyone argue with you that the UofM wouldn't be fighting for their own board?

Your post are insane and getting worse.

I'm sure Bill Clark was instrumental in this effort. #TrUeTh.
Be careful what you wish for. Just because we have our own governing body doesn't mean we will be better off. It could be that UT-K gets an even bigger slice of the state pie than before and having our own governing body can't prevent that. We will see.
This would be game-changing. As long as that Crappy Overfunded Orange School to the East controls our destiny, we will never be a first rate university in all details.
Wonder if Brad Martin would be interesting in sitting on the new BoR...

Thanks, the ice cream was great until you pooped in it.
Huge news if true.
this is bigger than anything that could happen to the athletic teams. Wow.
^^^ This

Having a group of people who are dedicated to the specific governance of the U of M would be a huge development in my opinion. Though we are in the same state, UTK and U of M are significantly different in many ways. Having our own governing board would further enhance our profile both in the state of TN and across the nation.

The real question then becomes who makes up the board as appointing the appropriate people to these positions will be a significant matter and almost important as the creation of the board itself. All and all, good news in my view.
So does this mean we can build the IPF now?
Now we can break ground on the IPF!

Yup! We can issue bonds, etc. This will free us up a lot!
