Amazing! Looking forward to having y'all back.
When 90% of those commits aren't JUCOs, I'll be impressed :).
These rankings don't include transfers right? If not, uab recruiting is even more impressive than what we see here.

If I understand the rules correctly, all of the 2015 signees have to be Juco players.

That may be as many three- and four-star players as UAB has signed in this century, combined.

We just got a commitment from a 3star HS QB today who's high school recode as a starting QB is 34-0. He won a state championship as a defensive player when he was a freshman. A second as a sophomore QB. As a junior won five straight before being injured and is undefeated this year as a QB. It's 6A so it's not small school ball beating up on inferior teams
Aren't the majority of these partial qualifiers? Isn't UAB allowed all partial qualifiers with this class?

no that is not true. some are guys who qualify but because of being behind wont have time to graduate before their scholarships run out so the extra year and a half will allow them to. Some will graduate before they play a game and work on advanced degrees. others don't want to sit the bench

USM could win the conference this week with a healthy dose of JUCOs. They are sometimes necessary.

Thanks for the clarification. By the way, I think Clark is a great coach.Would love for ECU to steal him away.

Basically the NCAA is allowing players to transfer and not have the off years count towards their eligibility. So if they transfer in 2015 as a sophmore, they will still be a sophmore in 2017 when they start playing again. They will also get a waiver to be able to sign more then the normal 25 players a year.

Another qb

Good kid. I've watched him play several times. His family has known Coach Clark for a while. It looks like you guys should be back up and running quick.
#46 now among some P5 schools.

Thanks Jag, I hope we can eventually play a series in football. I will enjoy the trip to Mobile and hopefully get in some fishing.

It'll probably work for UAB for next 4 years to go the JUCO route just to get the program rolling again, but look what it did to Troy in the long run...

Blakeney brought in too many JUCO players during his last 5-6 years, and it really messed us up. That's why Neal Brown is recruiting nothing but HS kids, with maybe one or two JUCO players.

Brown has even said that when a coach establishes a certain culture in a football program, if you bring in JUCO guys, it tends to change the culture... an not for the better. (Not sure what exactly he meant by that, but I guess I get it?)
The spring will be mostly Freshmen. We are also mixing in some transfers in other classes. It's a delicate balancing act.

I think that's very true; it happened in basketball here in the mid 90's when we transitioned from Bartow to Bartow. It was very bad; no connection to the school and no feeling of belonging makes discipline really difficult. We had players telling the head coach (Murry, not Gene) to go **** himself during games, including an epic bench meltdown at South Florida. The additional two years of age doesn't always mean they're more mature, but they think they are.

As long as Clark doesn't make it a long-term strategy UAB should be fine: these Juco players will be here a full year before the first game, some of them a year and a half. That makes them close to four-year players in terms of culture.

When you bring them in for three semesters, it's a different story. We need to avoid that for the reasons you name.

Sonny Dykes did the same thing to us and we had a really good team in 2012 that was ranked as high as 18 in the country at one time but the bottom fell out in 2013 after he left for Cal. Usually JC guys are better for just plugging a hole or 2 but USM has done an excellent job with JC players this season.

You can build a championship team on the backs of JUCOS but to build a championship program you have to do it on the backs is HS recruits

Just once.

We can sign 15 this month, to count against 2015.

30 in February to count against '16.

Then back to the same 25 everybody else gets.
