The Education Game. In the past, the opponents that the LM face in this game are teams coming off 20 game losing seasons. (Or in one case, brand new to the division one) The rational is simple. In front of the largest crowd of the year, you don’t want to lose. Wednesday is no exception to this rule. Last year the Greyhounds went 7-23 (5-13 in the Patriot League). However this team might be better than teams we have played in the past.

The last time Loyola was at the Ted was on March 16th, 2011 where they beat the LM 67-65 in the first round of the WNIT tournament. The head coach at the time was Coach Larry. It was also her last game at ODU. For the Greyhounds it was there first (and only) postseason win ever in the history of the program.

So far this season Loyola is 2-4.

Loyola 57, Lipscomb 52. Ashley’s sister Bri Betz-White scores 23 points with six boards to lead the comeback in the second half.
Loyola 55, Villanova 67: 3 players score double digits, but it’s not enough to over come Villanova’s 46.2 shooting from the floor.
Loyola 45, Fairfield 71: The Greyhounds lose there home opener. Shooting 25.4 % from the floor doesn’t help.
Loyola 75, Norfolk State 67: Collen Marshall scores 28 points, Bri Betz-White scores 19 points.
Loyola 61, W&M 60: The Greyhounds come back from 10 to almost win the game. Going 20-for-30 from the FT line cost them the game.
Loyola 53, Columbia 63: Bri scores 20 to lead the team but it isn’t enough thanks to the team shooting 25% in the second half.

This team shoots 65.8 % at the free throw line. Bri…much like her sister is deadly at the charity stripe. This is a team that launches an incredible amount of three’s. Expect one out of every three shot attempt will be a three pointer. Considering we allowed 17 in the last game, hopefully KB is working on three point defense. But that will the key to this game. Guarding the three point line.

I fully expect a win here. Mostly because this will be very embarrassing for the team and KB if were to lose. ODU may not say anything publicly, but they had a marketing plan for the team’s 1000th win. Free t-shirts were advertised at the start of the year. Now that win will come on the road. Which isn’t ideal for marketing and celebrating a milestone achievement on somebody’s else home floor is….strange.
If you have never been to an education game, go. It's an absolutely insane environment.
We went last year. It was a lot of fun. I just so happen to be off work, because we were going to be out of town and now we aren't, so we will be there this year. Watching 8,000 crazy kids doing Ice Cream and Cake from the VIP area is totally worth it. Let's hope this game starts the Ladies back on the straight and narrow. Anyone know if the suspended players will be back?
