You never cease to amaze me with your stupidity. If 51% of 600 people from an opt in survey conducted by the most biased organization imaginable for such a poll is legitimate, then you are a lost cause.

Follow the conversation. If you can't stfu. Oh hell, just stfu anyway.

Let me help you out a little you utter and complete idiot.

"I think virtually all Muslims in the U.S. left their countries in order to get away from Shariah Law and oppression."

Nope. Not even close. But it would make my day to hear your dumb*** argue otherwise.

http://bridge.georgetown.edu/new-poll-on...ith-flaws/

Your survey that you are hanging your hat on is deeply flawed and administered by a group who has been known to outright lie and intentionally misrepresent facts.

It looks like you came nowhere close to proving my speculation as false. I don't have a dog in this fight. If a reliable scientific poll was made that showed beyond a shadow of a doubt that the majority of American Muslims want to make the U.S. another caliphate, I want to know that and take action against these people. However, what I see in practice is that more Muslims in this nation are integrating into U.S. culture than are not. That doesn't take away from the fact that a sizable minority of American Muslims may in fact want to harm the U.S., but what numbers are we talking about? I'd say 5% is a sizable minority for example, but would still be dwarfed by the majority.
I don't think the majority of American Muslims believe that, but I believe the number is much higher than the left wants to admit.

Amazing.

This is one nut. Regardless of his political views, and I have seen no evidence that he has any, the fact remains that most violent criminals are democrats.

It's a fact because Ted Cruz says it's a fact? I have a hard time believing most violent criminals are involved in the political process let alone registered as a Democrat. Maybe I missed where he sourced this claim.

You obviously didn't look very hard, first hit on Google:

Jail survey: 7 in 10 felons register as Democrats

Quote:A new study of how criminals vote found that most convicts register Democratic, a key reason in why liberal lawmakers and governors are eager for them to get back into the voting booth after their release.

“Democrats would benefit from additional ex-felon participation,” said the authoritative study in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.

The authors, professors from the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University, found that in some states, felons register Democratic by more than six-to-one. In New York, for example, 61.5 percent of convicts are Democrats, just 9 percent Republican. They also cited a study that found 73 percent of convicts who turn out for presidential elections would vote Democrat.

But despite recent moves in states to notify convicts that they can vote again, the study finds little evidence that they do, undercutting Democratic efforts to get them to the polls.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/jail-s...le/2541412

If you are going to cherry pick then I might as well bring up the details that are omitted here.

1. The study is 1/3 of released felons from 3/50 states. aka small sample size.

2. There is a difference between being a criminal and a being a felon.

3. The researchers of this study have already said their study is being misinterpreted and was never intended to be used in this way.

Moving away from that, anyone who knows me on here knows that I resent the Coke/Pepsi attitude that people have when comparing Ds to Rs. I'm a firm believer in demographics imbedded in the roots of both parties hence the reason I'm always arguing against those who say Ds and Rs think/act the same.

With that in mind it's no secret that minorities are overrepresented in the justice system and that they tend to vote heavily in favor of democrats. That combined with the Republican attitude of being tough on crime/anti rehabilitation and taking a less humanistic approach regarding the treatment/attitudes of criminals (as well as the poor) should make this pretty obvious. You don't need to bank on selective interpretation of a study to argue this.

In other words, despite all your catterwalling about how 'bad' Cruz's comment is, or that the sample size is small (we often concluded far more with far less) you're in 100% agreement that he is absolutely correct

You just don't like that he said it and framed it how HE wanted, not how YOU wanted.

Not hanging my hat on anything, just did a quick google. Other polling has been done, just pointed you in the direction of them. If you're truly interested, search them out. No one has said rely on one poll. You made an asinine claim of "virtually all" Muslims are opposed to Shariah. That's simply a foolish notion. But if you want to hedge now by changing to "majority" well hell, probably still wrong.
Muslims were asked there attitudes and beliefs. They answered. It boggle the mind that so many wont take Muslims at their word.

There are no other polls like that. If you're referring to multiple sites, they are pointing to the same poll. Here is a detailed writeup about a series of questions about Islam posed to Islamic nations or nations with high percentages of Islamic people done by Pew Research Center.

http://www.pewforum.org/2013/04/30/the-w...ut-sharia/

There are actually more heavily Muslim countries than ours where the majority of Muslims do not want Shariah Law to be the law of the land.

And yes, I have seen Muslims integrating into society where I live, where they are doctors, lawyers, engineers and businessmen. Dearborn, I believe, is more of an exception. Unlike Europe, the U.S. is much more favorable for Muslims to integrate - believe it or not.
Started to say read the Pew one.

And we still have your original "virtually none". You've not changed that yet. Have you not realized that's wrong yet?

Sizable numbers, ever here, are for it.

I can't answer for john but this statement:

"Here is the simple and undeniable fact the overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats,"

is absolutely not supported by anything in that study and taken at face value is absurd. If he said more former felons are likely to vote for democrats than republicans, then that could be argued but what he said is ridiculous. But politicians apparently can lie with impunity.
Just giving you a hard time miko. Was only taking exception to "virtually all Muslims in the U.S. left their countries in order to get away from Shariah Law".
Show of hands: can anyone picture a bunch of prisoners watching the election returns in prison rooting for Romney? No. Spin it however you want, but we all know Cruz is right.

I'll back off my claim of virtually all left their countries to get away from Shariah Law, because it was a guess. But I do not believe that the majority of Muslims in the U.S. favors the adoption of Shariah Law. I looked thru a number of links, and all of them are pointing back to the same one poll done by CSP. Given the flawed nature of the poll, I doubt a majority of them truly favor Shariah over the constitution. I would also exchange the phrase "virtually all" to a majority left their countries to get away from repressive governments. What those actual numbers are I don't know, and there is not a reliable poll that gives us a clear educated guess as to where the numbers are.
I'll stop pestering you now. 03-wink
Seriously miko, we don't always agree but you're not an ******* like some and I try to to limit my style of replies to what others put out. I have been unfair to you. The only complaint I have about Cruz and this comment is that it just goes to show how ****ed up our political system has become. if we have any hope of moving away from the extreme partisan climate then comments like these should be avoided.

I don't like that the cruz campaign when asked to back this up after the comments were made (and later done by ER in this thread) resorted to bullsh**ing a study.

There is no bullschit. It is what it is. Violent criminals tend to vote for democrats. If your side doesn't like then maybe you shouldn't blame an individual nut going off on conservatism. It started with your side, not ours.

if I assume you have been following this thread, then I'm guessing you have literacy problems.

No literacy problems here. Just you lying. We all know the truth, even you.

Now you definitely have proven you haven't been reading this thread.
