Maybe we get that big WR Wims now.
That would work for me!

You beat me to it.
I saw where the AD expects to keep him involved on the administration side of things. Interesting if you ask me.
It has long been rumored he has no interest in coaching elsewhere. They could probably keep him on as an "ambassador". I'd rather see him go to UVA or something.
I understand he is going to focus on his ministry work. Good man.

Lol sorry got a little excited.
Mark is indeed a "Good" man and a pretty good football coach. Nevertheless, I'm sorta glad to see him being replaced. The defense was decent this year but the new OC ( and not having really good QB's ) was underwhelming with his play calling and schemes.

Losing your best player in week 6 didn't help your offense at all.

Truer words were never spoken (about the OC,that is - not sure I agree about Richt himself). We were at the UGA/Tech game this week and my brother in law could correctly predict the coming play about 90% of the time. The guy seems to be using a flowchart or something to determine his playcalling; there's not a lot of effort to keep things unexpected.

On the plus side, I got some awesome comments from the UGA fans about my UAB shirt and how much they love Jake. It was a good day.

I think it was time. Georgia was in a never ending loop of having so much talent and never being able to quite get over that hump and win the biggest of games.(for what it's worth, I will always think the Georgia team was better than the lsu team that won in 2007.) sometimes a change is best for all that are involved. It may be better, it will likely be worse, but I think a shakeup was needed. Evidently some players are not too happy about this though.
That habit of kicking criminals off his team so they could win championships for other programs probably didn't help him, either.
10 wins a year, 80+ guys drafted (after this year), #2 on all time win list, & habitually kicks criminals off team, but doesn't beat UAT or Florida and gets fired.

There were 2 very talented backups who carried the load this year effectively. The O-Line was not up to snuff and the passing attack was anemic.
Regardless of how many players he kicked off of the team for legal trouble, there was always a fresh crop of lawbreakers the next year. This was a trend that was mathematically greater than even your average SEC program. To me, that points to either poor evaluation in recruiting or a lax program environment, either way, not a good look. Richt was and is a fantastic guy but he had his issues. His infamous order to his players to incur unsportsmanlike penalties during the '05 (?) Flordia game comes to mind.
One of the first things I saw on ESPN tonight (after returning from Memphis/Collierville) was the banner saying Mark is headed for Miami. I guess he really has his work cut out for him there.
