Holy crap. I hadn't watched much college bball outside of odu and odu ooc opponents this season but I just checked this kid out on a recommendation from a friend.......

Good lord, he's like a taller, faster, quicker lebron with a better handle.

Look him up and enjoy his 1 year in college while you can. He may take lsu to a final 4 single handedly. He's like Kevin durant only with a more athletic, strong frame. Don't know about his range, all the highlights I saw were of him dropping dimes on the fast break and dunking on unsuspecting fools.

For those who haven't already seen him, you can thank me later.
Simmons is fun to watch, but I hate the LeBron comparison. He is nowhere near as athletic as LeBron, and thus far, isn't the outside threat LBJ is (or was coming out of HS). But, don't get me wrong. Simmons is awesome. It is crazy to see someone his size handle the ball and drop dimes the way he does.

Another player I'd recommend is Providence's Kris Dunn. That kid does it all.

I think durant is a better comparison.

Like I said, don't know about his shooting ability but he's putting up huge numbers against college kids with little effort.

If he was selfish he could probably score 50 a night
Very skilled. And unlike most great ones at his age, he is a distributor.
Yeah, FTL, I have not seen him but heard a discussion at halftime of a game last night about all these great stats he had his last game but that he had only taken six shots the whole game and didn't take his first shot till only a couple mins before the half. I think LSU lost that game too? I need to look this kid up, thanks Razor.

That may be the knock on him. He is too unselfish. They lost to Marquette the other night, and he gave up the ball twice in the last ten seconds. He needs to be more selfish at times. If not, he might not even make the NCAA Tournament in his career.
It's a shame Ben Simmons went to a college team that doesn't have a coach. Ironically, though, last night, they got beat by another team that doesn't have a coach. Yikes.
Yeah the team around him is pretty brutal.

He's a 6"10 point guard who had 16 rebounds and 10 assists last night but can blow by guys off the dribble and seemingly score at will (although as has been said, he's too unselfish)

I think the real issue is, unless other guys can step up on that team, he will be double teamed any time he touches the ball.
He'll be much more effective when Hornsby comes back from his injury.

LSU has some players beyond Simmons. Hornsby, Quarterman, and another freshman whose name escapes me are all very solid players, but their coach is just dreadful. It doesn't matter how many lottery picks they have, he can barely break the top 25. Simmons is amazing to watch. His shot does need some work, and he is terrible at the freethrow line. But boy is he smooth. Why the hell he went to LSU is beyond me. His game has Duke written all over it.
He went to LSU because he godfather is an assistant coach there.

LSU has talent outside of Simmons. Antonio Blakeney is a stud. They have a good backcourt with Quarterman and Hornsby (who is hurt right now). Brandon Sampson also looks like a legit freshman. They also have a ton of frontcourt depth.

He's shooting 73% at the line.

Per 100 possessions, he's averaging 25 points, 23 rebounds, 10 assists, 3.5 steals, and 2.2 blocks (only 1.9 turnovers).

Which makes a game like last night where he only scored 4 a big old head scratcher.
But he's a great bet to flourish at the next level. Every NBA team has talent that will play better with a guy like him. Almost some of the stuff we used to see with Magic!
Lebron James would have never looked so inept against a Mark Gottfried NC State team.
Have I mentioned that Jonny Jones sucks at coaching? He has the best player in the country and they still got run out of the gym last night by College of Charleston.
Simmons had 43, 14 and 7 tonight of 15/20 shooting.
In other news LSU gave up 108 points to North Florida after getting blown out by College of Charleston in their last outing.
