If we win Friday am I wrong thinking we have a shot at a New Years Day bowl. Do they only take league champions? Do you have to be highest computer rated team of non 5? What are the chances and what bowl would it be?
Only if we win the MAC
I see, so its the highest Sagerin rated non 5 league champion.

Not quite. Computer poll doesn't mean Sagarin for one... secondly it's the CFB Playoff Committee that chooses the top 25 (comes out on Tuesdays). It's the highest ranked team in their poll that is a G5 champion, who will be granted the Access Bowl Spot (Fiesta or Peach).
I'll tell you one think. If we get that bowl bid. I'm going. I don't care if I have to sell the house.
I hope we have a shot.
Only if Ohio wins tomorrow we beat bg in macc and the American plays out w someone other than one loss navy on top

Chances are slim and none. If NIU beats Ohio tomorrow night (and they 13 point favorites to do so) then that completely ends any Rocket chance.

Even if Ohio upsets NIU it is still a long shot because the Rockets would have to beat WMU and then beat BG again to win the MAC and still hope that Navy or Houston doesn't win the AAC. Even if Temple wins the AAC the selection committee might still give them the nod over the Rockets, but at least they would have a chance.

Of course had the last 2 minutes of the UT/NIU game turned out differently then the Rockets would be prohibitive favorites if they won the MACC game (and beat WMU)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure MSU was a 14 pt underdog to 0SU...and that was BEFORE MSU announced their starting QB was out with injury.

All I said was I hope we have a shot.

I was not making any kind of evaluation of our actual chances.

If i was being honest I would say that I prefer we kick the tar out of WMU, "back" into the MACC, double stomp BGSU, then take our 12-1 record to the Poinsettia Bowl against the MWC, crush them, and finish with a ranking above a 10-3 Ohio State who loses its final 2.
ohio has played niu twice over the last 5 years when NIU has won 11 or 12 games each yr. both games were 1 score victories by NIU that went down to the wire. both of those OU teams were comparable to this years OU team, while NIU is probably slightly down. Not saying the upset will happen but a betting man would go on Ohio and expect a close game.
Unforunately NIU is less down with Grahmn than they were with Hare.

still want the above perhaps over a NY day game...
....ummmm we have a shot now for sure. It's in our hands and I swear, if we come out winging dumba$$ short pass plays against WMU and end up losing - I will never go to another UT game again.

...ok, maybe for a couple of years I wouldn't - but it certainly would make it easy to move down to a warmer climate and not worry about missing games in the Glass Bowl.

Shoot, I'd probably be happy with some short passes. It's the long ones than don't connect burn my britches.
