No, had lunch with a long time friend today who's son works at Navistar. He is pursuing an MBA through NIU.

The program had classes in nearby Naperville close to Navistar.

Was told a month ago that the Naperville classes were to stop and be moved to DeKalb.

Showed up at DeKalb and on the first evening was told the program maybe discontinued. To boot NIU's doors were possibly to close. Not just the program but the entire institution.

The state of Illinois is in dire financial distress. EIU in Charleston had also been mentioned.

I have no source of confirmation. But the gal No had lunch with, with whom she has known for 25 years, has no reason to say otherwise. Hoping this is a big mistake. But considering the financial mess ....
Beat NIU.
You dont just close a college down in a year... that's not how it works

Yeah. After we beat them down on ESPN2 they might be looking at a 9-month shutdown.
Those elite English credits won't transfer.
Before "closing the doors", they would likely be folded into the Univ. of Illinois and become a regional campus for the flagship.

That said, I doubt that is going to happen. I'm interested to see if they've done a program review and altered their offerings. A massive retraction would happen long before any doors get closed.

I'm not clear how closing would work, if done.

But your suggestions eliminates all sports or at least I would think so. The point is saving $, right?

Maybe then WMU could win the MAC finally

Illinois has not passed a budget, so technically they aren't providing funding to the state universities, who in turn have had to reach into their own reserves to fund daily operations. The presidents of Eastern Illinois and Illinois State recently addressed the governor and legislature that they need to get the budget completed and the funding restored. No schools are in danger of closing, unless the state just decides to never pass a budget.

As a resident and tax payer in Illinois there is far more attractive steps to take than shuttering any state university.

The state is ripe with corruption. The King of Illinois, Michael Madigan has a death grip on the state and it's budget. Spend spend and spend some more.

His daughter is the States top attorney. She isn't interested in upsetting Daddy.

Warning shot was for the dopes that play the lottery. The low informed voters. Win more than $600 ... you don't get paid. But thanks for the contribution.

The budget is 100% on Mike Madigan and the Democrat controlled State Legislature that has driven spending to a deficit hole that deepens daily.

It's not about football you dope. It's about financial state of affairs in this fair state you and I live in. It's about the unintentional consequences.

Come on. If I put your brain in a bird it would fly backwards.

Giggles.

7 years in a row.
WOW - what a false rumor

I do work with the university and this could not be farther from the truth. First, the state only provides 20% of the NIU revenue. Second - the statements in the original post about the Naperville MBA program closing are not true.

Spreading lies and more lies

If you can't beat them, you start a smear campaign.
