Hey Perry, out of curiosity, what is your opinion of Middle Tennessee State? The impression most of us ( Tiger fans ) get is that they're a bunch of arrogant milksops, who consider themselves to be on a level much higher than they really are. Is that an accurate representation, or have we just been subjected to the rotten apples of the bunch?

One clown even had the audacity to visit our board last week and claim that MTSU was overall much better in football, basketball and baseball than Memphis! I nearly choked on my coffee when I read that.

Sounds like a challenge. 05-mafia Maybe it's time to do some more in-state OOC scheduling? Go get 'em, Memphis.

No, payformyfriendswolf, I said that while Memphis is ahead of MT in Football and Basketball, our OVERALL (read: all sports) athletics are better than yours.

Women's Basketball - who's better?
Baseball- who's better?
Men's Track? - who's better?
Women's Track? - who's better?
Women's Soccer- who's better?

So right now you are (marginally) better than us in football. You are better in basketball, we don't have men's soccer.

So find me something that you beat us in last year.

I didn't put in alot of time, but I didn't find anything.

Sure you pulled in more revenue, no one's arguing that, but actual on the field results can you argue that you are better overall? :chair: :chair:
I'll grant you those sports, but you're still behind in mens' basketball, football, mens' soccer, mens' tennis, womens' tennis, volleyball, rifle, and golf.
We beat you in men's tennis last year. Also finished ranked higher. Also, beat you in women's tennis.

Don't have men's soccer. So basically you beat us in volleyball, we beat you in women's soccer, baseball, men's and women's tennis. We have better track teams.

So there you go.

One of those MTSU fans was saying the Sun Belt would be better than CUSA and the MAC in 5-10 years. I almost snarfed my beer too when I read that. Those guys have to count games with OOC teams as conference games because they couldn't afford to travel to play each other the last few years.
greekwolf Wrote:In fact, I think North Texas would be quite competitive in Conference USA.
Not based on their game against USM last year. They were terrible.

You've gotta hand it to them.. they might not be the sharpest tools in the shed, but they certainly deserve an "A" for effort.

Sun-Belt overtaking Conference USA.. boy, that's rich.

And thanks for the personal insults, Mr boro. You're just proving my point about that huge inferiority complex in Mufreesboro.

Just out of curiosity, what's your school's claim to fame, anyway? Beating Vanderbilt in football a couple years ago? They must have shut down the entire town to celebrate such a monumental feat.

And you can keep all of your tennis, women's track and baseball accomplishments. If you want to hang your hat on fielding a better ping pong team than the rest of the state, then by all means.. be my guest.
No inferiority complex here. Why would I be jealous of the prettiest part of Arkansas (Memphis).

Your school is stagnant, the town is stagnant, and your athletic department is getting there.

We're growing exponentially in all three aspects. So sit on your perch, talk about the tradition that, btw, you don't really have, and don't fall out of the vehicle when we blow your doors off. It's only a matter of time. (And what scares Memphis fans, is that they know it.)

Have fun at Tiger High.

One more question is it Tiger High as in ya'll smoke too much pot and you're always high, or is it like High School?

It was bad enough when we had North Texas fans spouting how great they were on this board. Now we have some Middle Tennessee Technical College fan here. That mighty football team at Middy Tech can't even win the Sun Belt over a North Texas team that USM kicked around last year in that bowl game like a junior high team.
Go win something in football and come back then Middy Tech fan. Seriously fella, you are just making a Class A Fool out of yourself with these posts.

Are you kidding me? Is that your pathetic attempt at smack?

Out of respect for the rest of the board, I'll refrain from engaging in a flame war with some two-bit, junior college, directional school. It's a waste of my time.. and frankly, your little institution doesn't deserve the effort.

MTSU is like a crazy, middle-aged uncle who always shows up at Thanksgiving, and tries to fit in with the rest of the boys, by conjuring up stories of imaginary sexual and athletic conquests from when he was younger. Poor slob doesn't have any clue that everyone laughs at him behind his back... and that to the rest of the world, he's completely irrelevant.

Know your role.

Hey, hey Memphis State fan you need settle down with that kind of language. We Southern Miss, East Carolina and Central Florida fan don't care for that kind of talk.
Who the hell is middle tennessee state?

Sorry... I should have said "present company, excluded." :D

And I may be the only one, but I'd take Memphis State back in a heartbeat. Lots of special memories associated with that name.

My point, exactly.

A vast underachiever.

They looked like they were going some where a few years go and had winning season in their first two seasons in D1aa ball. They were coming off of an 8-3 season with a win over Vanderbilt in year two, and started the next season 2001 I think with some preseason top 25 votes. The wheels came off and while they are always picked near the top of the Sun Belt the next few years they always manage to lose to some D1aa teams and finish below .500. That is pretty much their story.

Biggest Win = Vanderbilt.

In the same light, it tickles me when OM and MSU fans think they are flaming USM when they use the Mississippi Southern name. USM had tremendous success as Mississippi Southern. They defeated a #1 at the time Bama team along with Georgia in the same season. They also won two college division national titles in football. I am proud of the Mississippi Southern name. Always will be.
I'm sorry about theboro's comments. I would like to advance our series to starting in December in New Orleans.

BTW: I believe it was myself that said on the SBC board the SBC would be equal to or better than C-USA in 5-10 years. C-USA is going down (I think you would say the same) and the SBC is rising. 10 years is a long time in college football.

Hope to see you in Nawlins. If not, See you in Memphis in a bit.

I wouldn't mind seeing MTSU in the New Orleans Bowl. I think our fans would enjoy meeting up with an in-state school in the postseason. It could be sort of an unofficial kick-off to our upcoming OOC series.

If my comments offended you, then I apologize.. but I'm not going to sit idly by and let boro run his mouth. I'm sure you'd feel the same way, if a Vandy fan frequented your board. Well, that's assuming that the Commodores actually have any fans.
