The refs in both basketball and football are terrible.
inadvertent flag

Couldn't agree more.
That "inadvertent whistle" could have been a potential gamechanger. Thankfully, the Monarch D was up to the challenge.
Start deducting their pay and see how many bad calls they make!
Quite a bit worse than CAA officials. Very bad
Last week they flagged the face mask on DW and then waved it off. This week they blow the whistle on DW during his pass and call for a redo. Both could have been very critical moments. Our defense was being held a whole lot today. Ton of missed calls
Just sloppy as hell. Both teams should submit formal complaints.

Conference usa reffing is down right scary.
Yesterday's football game should have been
ODU 37, Utep 21.

I have never seen the call I saw yesterday at Foreman Field.
And imagine this, none of my tweets to @Conference_USA were acknowledged
WILDER GOES EASY ON REFS AFTER BLOWN CALL

Midway through the fourth quarter, with ODU holding a 24-15 lead and the game still in doubt, came one of the strangest calls I’ve ever seen in a college football game.

Washington was rushed from the pocket and, just before heading out of bounds, tossed a bullet pass that hit wide receiver Kesean Strong right in the numbers. Strong tumbled out of bounds with a 26-yard pass that would have given ODU a first down at the UTEP 42.

Game officials waved off the play, saying there had been an “inadvertent whistle” while the pass was in the air.

The fans booed lustily for perhaps ten minutes, but Wilder was far more understanding. He said head official came over to him and apologized.

“He said, ‘Coach, I’m sorry, I made a mistake, and I will stand here and you can yell at me as long as you’d like.”

Wilder declined to yell, in part, he said, because he did not to further inflame the fans, who were already pouring abuse down on the refs.

Wilder said the official who blew the whistle was trying to protect Washington, who was headed out of bounds with a UTEP defender on his heels. Washington was pummeled as he went out of bounds.

“He just make a mistake,” Wilder said. “He apologized. He thought David was going out of bounds, so he was trying to protect the quarterback.

“The officials in our league are extremely professional, and they rarely make a mistake. It was an innocent mistake, and fortunately, it didn’t change the outcome of the game.”

Look for BW to one day run for office.
BW is doing the smart thing. Blasting the refs will not help us any down the road.

+1 Wilder is very smart and almost without exception tailors what he says to his intended audience.

Remind you of anyone??
It was the smart and classy way to handle it considering the fact that we went on to win the game. Had we lost because of the call, I'm certain the reaction would have been very different as the situation would have warranted it.

Same thing from the UTSA game. If we would have lost I'm sure the DW non facemask penalty would have been a bigger deal.

What makes the inadvertent whistle so egregious compared to bad penalty calls or missed calls is that there was no question in anyone's mind, including all the refs, that it was a mistake. In all other cases they have a chance to throw a flag or pick up a flag if they change their mind. But at least they can think about it. In this case the whistle blew so once that happens you can't take it back.
