That was such a tough loss after coming back at the end. If this loss was against any other random Power 5 team I'd feel ok about it. Losing to Auburn like that really stings.
Free throws are way off 11-31, but team foul were close at 19-18. It was just an ugly game in the foul department.
Losing to an Auburn that is down 3 players is what hurts far worse. Should've had this game.

Who ya telling. 03-banghead
I actually found it funny that AU folks were acting like they just won the NCAA championship. Until another state team makes it to the NCAA tournament, we are still top dogs in this state.

That free throw discrepancy is super suspect to me, but what can you do? Unfortunately, a lot of this thread read like one from the early part of last season. Pretty good shot selection, just unable to finish for whatever reason. Can't really comment on the defense without being able to see it.

I'm not down about it. They could have folded up after the opening slump, but they fought to make a game out of it. I'm sure the starters will shake it off.

Seriously, though, 11 to 31 free throws?

I thought shot selection was our main problem. Especially early

I also thought the officiating was fine....or at least I didn't think it favored one team over the other
We've still more games in their arena against them than they have
Gotta start halves better. Starters came out poorly in exhibition and tonight. They need a sense of urgency...

Yep. That Auburn team is likely going to struggle in the SEC this year.

Well that Auburn team didn't have their full compliment of players tonight and still won the game. UAB didn't play like a seasoned squad and quite honestly did not look ready to play.

I don't agree with any of this.
Well, 1st game...things happen. Just gotta come out stronger and clean a few things up...

UTC beat Georgia
No. 17 Wisconsin lost to Western Illinois, a team picked to finish last in Summit League:
Thats a bad loss. AU only had 3 scholarship players, too. That hurt us tremendously when recruiting head to head with them for these instate guys that haase has been on since '13.
A loss to UNC-Pembroke is more respectable.

Outshot them 70-51
FTs: us 11, Them 31
MIA:
Lee
Mehinti
Rob(until end)

Brown had 11 assists. He did other things besides score.

Lee was limping at one point. I wonder if that affected his game. It would have been nice if Sullivan had shown some of what he showed last week.

Bit of a stretch but I agree, it hurts.
They had around 7ish scholarship players playing. Should've won this game. Oh well, moving on to the next game.
Does not hurt us. We lost by 1pt on the road because of a late 3pter. Had we gotten trashed by Auburn I might agree. But that game even in a close loss legitimizes us in the eyes of High school players in this state who think all in athletics revolves only around Auburn and Alabama. A win would have been much better. But let's not make more of it than it is.

That's pretty idiotic.

What did Haase say in the post game interview? Still in Auburn.
I'm way more confident now than I was around this time last year. After they lost that exhibition game and then lost to LA-Monroe, I was concerned. Even after this loss tonight, I'm not worried. Yeah, Auburn was shorthanded, but that's a twenty shot free throw buffer at home and the game still could have went either way.
What did Haase say?
