Awful news.
College football will miss GP. He is a class act.
So sorry to hear this. Gary Pinkle you are a class act. I pray for nothing but the best for you and your family.
Gary, Bless you and your family.
From reading the reports he is doing well. I did similar treatments a few years back. Hope does not disappoint

Awful to hear.

Concerning that he's stepping down. Makes you think it might be worse than is being let on.
I don't think college football has seen the last of Gary Pinkel.
He could certainly coach for many more years after his recovery.
If that is what he wants...

Urban retired due to health before OSU. .. Maybe when he gets well he'll miss coaching and then Gary can return to Toledo after Campbell's squad moves on and pull a Frank Solich and just ride it out in the little ole MAC... Wishful thinking. Best wishes to Coach Pinkel.
Winningest coach at 2 D-I schools.

19th winningest FBS coach all time.

97% graduation rate at Mizzou over the last 5 years.

Plus a class act.

Best wishes GP and thanks for everything you did for UT Football.
I think he will miss it - but not the time he spent at it. I have a feeling he wanted a conference championship in the SEC in the worst way and wants to leave on a positive note, but I also think he will realize that spending time with his family and grand-kids (assuming he has some) will be more important. Have to wonder if that also contributed heavily to his divorce a couple of years back. Tough to give up something you love.
For some reason, without really thinking about it, I just somehow assumed Gary Pinkel would be at Missouri at least another decade---it seems hardly possible that he has been gone from here 15 years!

Best of luck to Coach Pinkel.

I knew GP was going to resign once the Prez resigned... I don't blame him for leaving now... Missouri, - the state has become stupid!!! now, Mizzou followed suit... Go Gary... get healed and come back to football where you belong!!! he is an awesome, honest, successful coach who has been a benefit to the game!!

If you read the stories, he was planning this way before any presidential resignation.

All the stories I read said he was going to keep going as long as his health would allow. And that his doctors have said his health would not get in the way of coaching. And he would re-asses thing on the team's bye week.
Which, conveniently was during this week of turmoil.
So, lets not discount it was at least a partial factor. Not that any new president would remove the winningest coach in history.
