LI'm sure you and your faculty have watched in sheer terror as a coddled group of university malcontents have thrown tantrums in attempts to destroy careers. On the surface these events appeared to have merit, but when examined closely they were much ado about nothing.

Socialmedia has created a generation that likes being in the limelight. Already, what began at Missouri has now spread to other schools (Ithica, Yale). It is only a matter of time before you and the K College president has to deal with it.

If the students have TRULY LEGITIMATE CONCERNS then I'm sure you'll know how to address the situation. However, if their concerns mirror the what we are seeing at the afore mentioned schools (Poop swastikas, "I heard someone call me a name, we don't like that Halloween costume), then I strongly suggest you take a firm stand.

A firm stand is needed.

"College is preparing you for the real world. If your boss doesn't approve of your nose ring, you won't be able to get them fired. If you whine continually to your supervisor because a co-worker said something that offends you, you will become the problem. Buck up, grow a pair, and get ready for reality. "

If I'm a parent sending my kid to your school, I'd be appalled if I saw the chief operating officer having a linguine spined response to this trumped up drama and bogus issues.

Protest is fine. Demanding change at the top is sometimes warranted. The protests of the 60's had a legitimate purpose. What we are seeing at Mizzo, Yale, and Ithica, has no resemblance.

Selling a university is difficult and expensive. If and when a copy cat protest occurs at WMU, do what the others won't. Be the adult and don't let the children run the asylum. I assure you, the media will hate you, but parents of prospective students will respect you. Free advertising, it's the best kind.
I think you entered in your email in the wrong form. You also forgot to sign your name. Here is the link to where you can email this to your intended receiver. I don't believe Mr. Dunn reads this board.

From my own personal experience I can tell you he's read this board.
Hm. I stand corrected.
I wish they would protest him outta here.

He will probably get some booster to sue me for saying that...

Good post!

The first public public university that stands-up and rejects the extreme left agenda will receive the benefit of increased applications and higher quality students.

Parents are sick of the kind of fabricated nonsense seen at Mizzu and across the nation.

I'm not saying WMU needs to become a public Hillsdale, but it MUST be moderate and open to diversity of thought as well as diversity of race.

The left wants to make disagreement disagreeable, if not illegal. There is no room for that on a legitimate campus.
Those videos of the celebration at Mizzou made me want to 03-puke

I would say your opinion is true in most situations, but virtually impossible to achieve. Simply look to the content of this board, and all of the extreme positons taken here, most with limited foundation, and name calling.

There's no reason for that tone.

Bottom-line, is a campus should not strive for "ideological absolutism." Reasonable people can and do disagree. Yes, there will always be vile extremists, but they marginalize themselves and should not be censored just because they may "offend" someone who disagrees with them. They only way they win is if opposing viewpoints are censored, which is what they want, of course.

The 1st Amendment is a beautiful thing! Unfortunately, the ideological extremists to the left (see the video of the Mizzo prof calling for "muscle") and right do not agree. That is very dangerous (and why the 2nd amendment is also a beautiful thing).
I think my presence here proves that banning is a thing of the past.
CD/CD1/CD2 isn't obsessed with this topic at all...
