Rice loses Marcus Jackson and freshman Chad Lott to knee injuries for most of the season. I hate it; Rice was really on the upswing.

Dang, I thought Rice had a shot at a top 6 spot before that... Jackson is a pretty big part of the team isn't he?

15ppg last year.
What a shame. I figured them to be a dark horse this year and perhaps even finish top 5 in the conference... Even still, you never know. Rhoades is a heck of a coach.
Ouch that sucks. Really hate to see that before the season even starts
Rhoadie will make do and Rice won't be terrible, but this will probably be one of those "what could have been" years for them

Yep, bright side is the medical redshirt and adding a year onto their eligibility to go along with thier impressive recruiting class
wow....not one, but two???.....just wow....

cusa needs everything it can achieve on the court this year (or any other)

that's a huge blow....
That's awful.
One was in practice and the other was a non-contact injury late in the first half of the exhibition game. Our best player, and Lott was supposedly our best freshman in the early practices (although the other main three freshmen look pretty good to me too).

Yes, it's a big blow but I still think we can compete IF we have no other injuries. But we'll be relying on freshmen with four of our top eight being true freshmen.

having numbers on a bench that have comparable ability relative to the starters is a big deal.....the 2nd half is going to be an issue for you guys.....conditioning is another one of those immeasurable(s) when folks start quoting stats as gospel (not you obviously)
Tough loss but the better discussion is why does mturn017 and CameramanJ still have UAB logos as their avatars. Come on men!

Yea it hurts that we will be playing an 8 man rotation again like last season but it's worth noting some of the guys in last year's 8 started at Rice as walkons. Besides Marcus Jackson's spot we should have an upgrade in talent over last year. I guess everyone will have to wait until 2016-2017 to see our 40 minute press.
This really stinks for Rice, particularly with upgraded expectations for this team. Other faces will now get more playing time, and more likely than not, you'll have someone step up that you previously had not considered.

Hoping the team adjusts to new roles quickly with a tough road opener at #14 Cal............
This is a tough loss for Rice as far as expectations for this season. To bright-side it though, some very talented young guys will be getting many more minutes than they would have, and that should pay off big-time going forward.
This stinks, for Rice and everyone in conference too. They might end up being a good team by the end of the year with the freshmen getting experience and coming together, but it's likely Rice will take on some OOC losses they wouldn't have otherwise.

Hope the players can return to full strength by next season. Knee injuries often take a bit of explosiveness away.
