Toledo should do what Navy did to Memphis and continually attack on the ground. If Toledo attempts over 25 passes vs. BG, then Toledo loses.

Great observation. I thought the exact same thing. If we do not game plan to run the ball down both teams throat, control the clock, and pressure the QB's on D, our coaches are not doing their job. Too bad we don't have any play action pass in our playbook!

BG's longest drive was around 3 minutes. TOP favored WMU significantly. Hold on to the ball, tire their D and keep ours fresh to keep the pressure on. WMU's star back was apparently out. Ours aren't. Use them. Oh, and when we do throw? Catch the ball!
We have 3 running backs that can make big gains at any time. If we keep them fresh, the BGSU defense does not have the quickness and stamina to stop them. Only if the Falcons start putting 7 or 8 guys on the line should we do any serious passing. DJM is the forgotten man the last couple of games but he could come up big if he was actually given some carries.

Franklin's just been passed on the depth chart. They said it was a coaching decision.
BTW Unrelated, but I am a full-on Toledo fan for you guys against BG.
BG look susceptible to runs starting toward the middle and bouncing to the outside. This is something all 4 of our backs do very well. I look for us to have several long runs.

Hunt "ran all over them last year... Hopefully we don't try and "trick"
them this year and think we have to pass every first down this year.

That's when your WRs and the other back (for the LB) become blockers and you RUN the ball around end. :)
I wouldn't get too over confident on the run game. Take out the first game where Tennessee blew up for 399 yards and the Falcons are only giving up 143 yards rushing per game, which would put them around #42 in FBS. With it they're giving up 168.6, which isn't horrendous (71 out of 128) when they can score as much on O as they can.
Only 4 teams all year have surpassed their rushing per game average against BG. And Akron only did it by 3 yards (158-155). The others were Tennessee (399-207), Buffalo (152-135) and Ohio U (299-168).
1st down: RUN the ball.
2nd down: RUN the ball.
3rd down: RUN the ball.
Punt formation: RUN the ball.
FG formation: RUN the ball. (that's a stocky FG kicker)
Kick-off: On-side kick, pick it up and RUN the ball.
Absolutely no reason to be tossing that ball around like old spaghetti.

BG was 105th last year giving up 207 yards per game. They have a new coordinator this year and our much better (40 yards per game). Plus, I still think Hunt is nursing his hammy.

Please do so. Only teams that run stuff like full wishbones can run on every down. If you try this, you will lose. You have to be balanced.
To me I couldn't be easier for us to figure out what to do against BGSUcks especially. RUN THE BALL! I don't care if it's Swanson, Hunt, Jones-Moore, or even Marc Remy just please run the ball. :)

You also need to consider the situations BG's been in most of the year. They're always ahead and the other team is playing catch-up, so they're going to throw a lot and abandon the run. Which means the rush yardage is naturally going to be down. Hopefully, the Rockets don't get into that situation.

Well...yeah...that's why you can't put so much stock in the run game when you don't run a full wishbone attack, as I said. You have to bring some sort of balance to your offense or it most likely won't work good enough to outscore BG.
So to beat BG our beloved OC has to game plan around running the ball...

in 2014-15 BG was #99 in rushing defense giving up 202 yds per game and after last night #70(#7 MAC) 168.6 yds per game.
