Quote:The second, and probably most important reason Friday’s game is significant for UAB, has to do with UAB’s place in the state’s college sports hierarchy. Obviously, Alabama and Auburn are the major players, and UAB is the third wheel, or “little brother.”

I quit reading this idiot after this line. In basketball it is not obvious and the writer has no clue what he is writing.
This article started out so well and then they started bringing up football in relation to a SEC-centric universe. A win over a perennial bottom feeder of the SEC doesn't mean much to anyone in getting into the NCAA tournament. Until Bruce Pearl can prove otherwise this would be an expected win or a WTF loss. UAB has no need to prove its place in basketball. We are clearly the best team in the state of Alabama and one of the top 75 programs in the country.
Unfortunately this writer is speaking to the unwashed masses that equate SEC with athletic superiority. To them any SEC team losing to any non-SEC team is an upset. That being said, we should beat this AU team and in doing so will further our cause.
