Well Toledo coming off a close loss in a game they led the whole way against a G5 power team went from 350 votes to 4 (yes 4). We are now behind a Boise st team which has not beaten a winning team and has double digit losses to the 2 winning teams they have played (one a 26 point beatdown by 5-4 utah st)

AAC has 4 teams in the polls w Houston at 16 (best win 5-4 louisville), Temple at 21 (1 win over a winning team), Navy at 22 (2 wins over winning teams) Memphis drops 10 spots to 25 -wow- w a loss, but the best overall resume of the AAC.

Big 10 now has 6 teams ranked

Big 12 has 4 of the top 12 teams

The Rockets' 4 votes in the AP poll places them as 31st in terms of most votes received. In the coaches poll the Rockets got 8 votes, good enough to be the 33rd team in terms of most votes received. BG also picked up 1 vote in the Coaches Poll.

At least they are still on the radar screen and they will move up a bit by attrition as others lose so long as they are able to win, but one more loss and the will be out of the voting entirely.

Any chance at the access bowl has now vanished as there are now 5 G5 teams (including Boise) ahead of them and it is highly likely that at least one of them will end up as a one loss team. However, if the Rockets could somehow manage to win their next 3 games, get some help to get into the MACC game and then win it as well as their bowl game there is a good chance that they could still end the season as a ranked (top 25) in the final polls.

Of course the apparent direction of the team does not seem favorable for that to happen as they appear to be regressing not progressing as the season wears on, but we shall see.
Seems like the pollsters recognize NIU as a good team (which they are) and not a horrible loss for us. It's not everyday that a MAC team even gets votes with a conference loss. There is still hay to be made...
Win the next 3 and the Rockets probably claw their way back into the top 25. That should be the focus now.
I'd been following Espn's power rankings for awhile and their 13-member panel still has us 27th with 9 points, behind USC (13 points) and #25 Memphis (21 points). All our 9 points came from two panelists: Kevin Carter for a #23 vote (had us #16 last week) and Danny Kanell with a #20 vote (had us #18 last week). They didn't have anyone voting for us at all until the Arkansas State win (1 #25 vote even though that win nearly placed us into the AP Top 25). So they were the last ones to jump on our bandwagon but they're still more 'on it' than anyone else today. Seems to me that there's some voters out there recognizing that the Arkansas team we beat was not the slouch everyone was making them out to be simply from losing to us, yet many still realizing we are a MAC team and that you don't typically still vote for one of those after a loss. I think it's a pretty safe bet that whoever ends up winning the conference is going to have a ranking come along with it.

I thought you guys should have stayed in the top 25. You're still 7-1 with a 5-point loss to a 6-3 team. Your Arkansas win is looking better and better as they continue to gain more wins.

But then again, the MAC gets little respect so not surprising they dropped Toledo out of the top 25.
If we beat CMU by a double digit margin and beat BG we will be back in the top25 for everything i think. Beating BG would be a catipult win. A win over WMU would do about the same as the CMU win. And beating BG in a rematch would seal a top 20 finish. Probably not much higher. If NIU drops one of their final 3 and Toledo wins out it COULD mean Access Bowl. It just depends on who beats up who in the AAC.

1 loss Temple has Memphis and AACCG
1 loss Navy has Houston and AACCG
1 loss Memphis has Houston, Temple and AACCG
0 loss Houston has Memphis, Navy, and AACCG
---- if none of these teams lose to another team like USF, Uconn, UC, Tulsa, or ECU... That would shock me
