1) football operations facility at approximate cost of 12 to 15 million...

2) Now, 2nd item mentions discussions indicating BJCC/City may construct facility and asking UAB to be a long-term tenant to play home games
WTF?!?!?! Is this true
This is a pretty big deal. Johnny Johns has been a big help lately.
For right now. Seems that plans may be presented at next BOT meeting.

Sounds familiar.

I don't believe we have the full go ahead yet.

Nope, but things do seem to be trending in our favor.
Wow! Shovels aren't in the ground yet, but this is definitely a positive turning point. They are now on record as supporting each project, although the same thing was said about the OCS in 2011 right before they killed it.

Also, big to see them officially endorse a reasonable bond issue. Raising that much cash up front is a tall order.
Pretty sure it was stated that they will approve the plans for the football facility when presented at the next meeting. No mention of any contingency but we all know that can change.
Still believe it is tied to meeting the goals of $4 million by January, etc.

Last I heard we were at $2.7 million so just a little over $1 million to get to the January goal.
We've got this. If you are nervous, go look at the names on the Foundation list again. Not the BoT names, the rich and powerful, influential, on our side names.

They are no longer blowing off a busload of people in green t-shirts. If they play games, there will be consequences. People that they respect will be offended and alienated, and possibly will retaliate. This is an entirely new ballgame.
It's a new day folks. We will tell our grandkids about the fight we made and how we ALL saved football. Every person that gave a dollar. This is truly OUR program.

...Wilson is reading a statement about UAB Foundation announced earlier this week.
...Wilson said the foundation, UAB leadership is actively fundraising to construct football facility.
..."UAB foundation and the foundation plan to come to this board to seek approval for this facility, at an approximate cost of between $12-15M"
..."Financed by bonds to pe paid by these pledges. This financing would allow construction to begin even if all necessary funds are not in hand
..."When this proposal comes to us, we expect to fully support it and assist. We congratulate UAB and the foundation for this progress."
...The second item is about discussions of a multi-purpose football facility at BJCC which would be possible as home for UAB football.
..."LIkewise, we look forward to seeing this proposal and support the efforts to conclude this long-term lease arrangment," Wilson said.
...Basically, the takeaway is a statement of support from Physical Properties Committee for UAB to bring plans for permanent football facility
...Talked with AD Ingram. The statement of support involves football practice facility built by UAB and possible football complex at BJCC.
...The two option discussed did not include, at this point, a football stadium on campus.
...The BJCC facility would see UAB play as part of a long-term http://lease.Construction would not be funded by UAB, Ingram said.

This sounds great, but I think those of us who didn't join the call might not yet have a good understanding of what if anything was approved today.

It's sounds like they might have approved the bond issue for the project, but the plans for the project still need to be approved at the next meeting. Is that the case?

Or did they just discuss the facility in a preliminary fashion and bond issue and plans will be up for approval at the next meeting?

Edit: Never mind, subsequent posts have answered my questions all I have to say is:

Boom
get ready to raise some more money. We also need to fund a IPF. I know Ingram is against it now but we are working to change his mind. Money will do the trick. If anyone wants naming rights for an IPF please PM me.
I ALREADY pledge some money for IPF to coach clark when he came to visit me at my office this last monday03-wink

Nothing has actually been approved per se. They are included as "information items". Basically it's just a way for the Board to publicly state their support on the record for an upcoming project that will be presented for formal approval in the future.

They aren't going to be selling bonds next week. But, this is significant, no doubt.
