I think that's the best 5 and the front court will be hard for most college teams to match.
Baxter, Watts, Williams, Madison, and Smallwood could win a lot of CUSA games.
My first thought is that Haase must have a lot of trust in Smallwood, Sullivan, and I guess Madison as backup bigs.
With that five, I kind of worry about the defense of the guards, but the offensive punch is strong.

Yep. Expect a lot of zone.
Even with zone, we couldn't defend good 3 guard lineups. I understand that cokley had done a ton of work this offseason, but he provided a ton coming off the bench. I would not be a fan of this as a starting lineup.
Norton - 5'10" 171 So
Brown - 6'5" 195 RS Sr
Lee - 6'9" 210 So
Cokley - 6'8" 241 So
Mehinti - 6'9" 238 Jr

Cal State East Bay has several big bodies to throw at us Friday night, but I'm not expecting much from a team that went 6-22 in Div-II play last season.
I'll be happy with whatever five wins games.
That's a good lineup, but I kind of liked what Cokely brought off the bench last year. That lineup will probably struggle with the mostly guard heavy lineups that teams use these days. I liked having Baxter as a steady, defense-first, glue guy to start, and bringing in Cokley as a scoring punch with the second wave off the bench..
I was at the Pep rally and also leaked this from my twitter account @madduxmullinax that last night they played the starting line up video as the student section practiced what we are going to do during the announcing of the starting 5. I can say without a doubt that this is the starting 5.

How was the turnout?
It may be our starting lineup for now, but I doubt it sticks. Probably just Haase trying something new. I think Cokley goes back to the bench but increases his minutes played to ~24 per game.
If Cokley is in the starting 5 then Coach must be happy with the depth Sullivan and Smallwood can provide behind Mehenti.

And maybe it also means that Mehenti isn't as foul prone so far in practice.

It was nothing big, we nearly filled up the section next to the band but that was because this was a small event that was not well advertised. I will expect at least 300 students at every game this year as opposed to the 100 last year. Some highlights from last night were that there will be tailgates this year and the students will have a pregame routine. Tim Alexander wants a tailgate environment before every game so lets do that

Great lineup IMHO.

Tosin and Chris can switch defensively at times with the possibility of HaHa and Tosin being help side defenders. Also placing two athletes on the wing long athletes so Nick can shadow players.

Offensive we placed our three best shooters at the spots that averaged the most minutes last year. Also the play of Cokley offensively was some of the best low post play since Cam Moore. Tosin offensively is the most improved big I've seen since Howard. Nick could average six assist easy with this lineup and shoot it some.

Haase is a wonderful basketball mind, he still has plenty options off the bench for in game situations ( frontcourt shooting, big guards, and a defensive a in Hak). He's also very honest and forthcoming with information. I think this is why we never saw a article about guards. Haase tells everything you need to know between the lines.
I like this line-up, and I'm not worried about perimeter defense. If anything, it'll be better than last year. Also, I imagine Haase will stagger the rotations so that at least two of the starting forwards are on the floor together. When Lee slides to the 4, Dirk will probably take his place on the perimeter.
For the past couple of years I have tried to keep up with the +/- numbers. I have noticed that no matter who Haase starts, he makes his first substitution after about 4 minutes. That starting lineup will generally play 3 or 4 minutes at the start of the second half but rarely much more. On average, the starting lineup will play 8 or 9 minutes of a 40 minute game.

So it really isn't that big of a deal who starts.

Bingo. If he sticks with that trend, we'll be tough to beat this year. 1-10 we are significantly better than any other team in the CUSA.

Makes me think Haase wants to start fast on offense with Brown, Lee and Cokley starting. The paint might get clogged at times, but Lee will have a huge size mismatch on his man. Reminds me of the UTEP teams of the past couple years.
