I hate all things Virginia Tech, but congrats to him on a great career. He built a very good program from nothing and deserves his accolades.

He and George Welsh made college football relevant in Virginia. He's a very good person.
Wonder what happens to bud foster...
Beamer always seemed like a nice guy.
Beamer did a great job at his alma mater.
He deserves a lot of respect.
Retiring just in time to avoid the Monarchs. Wise move.

Lol I don't think anyone really wants to avoid us right now.
It's gonna be weird watching the Hokies play without coach Beamer on the sidelines. I enjoyed watching Tech while I was growing up, and he led some great teams to great seasons. He will be missed
i hope it's bud foster. he will try to get it to be his son though
I knew this was coming, sent a private message to Harry M last week. I also know who has been informally contacted.

And there is a reason you are not sharing?
I also may... or may not know.
I think I know something that is not related to VT football.
I'll spill the beans. Rich Rod is their #1 target. He's not happy at Arizona (playing second fiddle to basketball) and is looking to get back to the East Coast. No word how this will affect the coordinators, but I know there's a lot of pressure from big donors to keep both the DC and OC.

Anything can change of course, but the hire will be from outside (not Foster).
I know someone that works for the university in question (so I can't burn my source, at least not this early). Not Arizona, not from the West.
Whit Babcock (VT's AD) and Rich Rod are very close friends.
Wish Coach Beamer all the best. He's been a class act.
He consistently played the in state FCS schools - knowing it was a big help to them.
VT was transformed as a university during his time as a coach and the heights he led them to.
He's been everything that is good about college sports.
This may be an odd comparison but the last couple years of Beamer's "vibe" was similar to Wendy Larry's last few years. Sort of like their hearts were no longer into it.

That might be the break we need. Unless Texas fires Charlie Strong and he comes to ODU, I don't see a Wilder led ODU team beating VT.
