In my mind, Beamer has earned the right to go out on his terms.

Maybe back when Bowden and Paterno had to leave. It breaks my heart also he's the only coach I remember from VA Tech

No, not fired. He may have felt some pressure, but he had another year if he wanted it. That being said, I'm pretty sure the AD is happy to get to address the job now instead of later.

I'll be interested to see if they stay in-house with Beamer's son or Bud Foster, or if they hire externally.

Doubt either will be in play. Foster hasn't recruited in several years. Big question about whether he wants it. It's tough to be a head coach without recruiting

They have a relatively new AD (Whitt) who may want to put his stamp on the program. He's shuffled the hoops staff, now gets to focus on FB
