.@247Sports has elevated Evan Prater to the #156 recruit in America and the #2 prospect in Ohio. @evan_prater is now the highest ranked high school recruit in #Bearcats program history.

WOAH, that's a HUGE jump...holy ****. Up 550 spots since January.

Yeah it is. Prater's presumably new evaluation there is also worth a read here. I've got mixed emotions on his comparison QB (you'll have to follow the link for all the details), but the evaluation ends with a bang:

Quote:May be the most talented prospect to commit with a Group of Five program in several cycles. Has a very high upside as a multi-year starter and potential early round draft pick.

As far as the comp is concerned...if we can lock up a guy who throws for 10,000 yards and 80 TDs while rushing for another 4,000+ and 60 TDs in his college career, I'd be absolutely thrilled.

Also of note, Darrion Henry (one of the Princeton 3 who got away) took a pretty large tumble down to #23 in the state rankings from his previous #4.

Love it! If he's half as good as Kaepernick, we're in for a treat!

With Ridder only being a RS Sophomore, Bryant a RS Frosh, and Prater coming in this year, it's going to get really interesting to see how things play out in the QB Room in the next couple seasons. This staff has already clearly shown that seniority doesn't beat out fit/talent.

What a luxury. Injuries happen. Remember the Belk Bowl where Shaq Washington and I think walk on Colisimo had to play QB because Munchie was hurt pre game and Gunner got hurt early in the game.
Military Bowl we had to start the walk on.

isn't prater's class coming in next year?

Yes, Prater will have a two and three year gap between Bryant and Ridder respectively assuming Prater sees limited action his freshman year and redshirts like Bryant did this year. It's crazy how much talent we will have at the QB position.

So you're telling a Tpp 150 guy to redshirt? That's a tough sell typically, and why I just figured you're going to have a RS Jr. RS Sophomore, then Prater in as a frosh.
It's hard to see Ridder and Bryant both completing their eligibility here. Either Bryant beats out Ridder in the next couple years or you'd think he'd look at a transfer since he's only one year behind Ridder and Prater will be ready to compete for the job by the time Ridder's done.

I don't really think you have to ask, do you? As long as he doesn't play 5 games, he's G2G correct?

I think QB is different than most positions where there's one starter and in an ideal situation, no other QB sees the field all season.

Just looking at 2018's QB class:

Matt Corral, Ole Miss: 63rd ranked player only played in 4 games
Jarren Williams, Miami: 77th ranked player redshirted and now sitting behind Tate Martell
Phil Jurkovec, Notre Dame: 83rd ranked player redshirted and is still second string behind a junior this year.
Emory Jones Florida: 85th ranked player redshirted and is still sitting behind a junior

Really seems like unless you're a QB prodigy (Trevor Lawerence), the hope is that you're sitting the first year to develop. Hell even Tua's first action came very late in Alabama year.

Yes 01-wingedeagle

Agree. He will have 4 games to play. Depending on how good/ready he really is and how the season works out, maybe he has a chance to play meaningfully in those 4 games. He will get his chance to be a star here but it doesn't need to come his freshman year unless he turns out to be Trevor Lawrence. And I still will not count out Ben Bryant either. He's very talented and has the size, arm strength, etc. of a big time QB.

Two crystal balls today for Justin Wodtly to Cincinnati from a pair of 247 recruiting analysts. This could be big! DT is easily the hardest position to recruit for Cincinnati IMO.

For what it's worth, the Michigan State recruiting guru just CB'd Wodtly to UC. Michigan State was believed to have been frontrunners at one point. Wodtly has also been all over social media calling the UC upset of Ohio State.....
Could be a great Friday for us.

After winning the Heisman Trophy this season, Ridder will be NFL bound. Bryant will start in 2020 and 2021, then declare for the NFL draft as a RS JR after breaking the single-season school record for passing yards. After being drafted in the 1st round, he will pass the torch to Prater as a RS SO, who will end up being the best of out of all 3.

Hopefully we can get at least one of the cornerbacks in Sammy Anderson (3* .8647 out of Trotwood-Madison) or Carrington Valentine (3* .8527 out of Moeller).

Both Rickey Hyatt (3* .8647 safety out of Westerville Central a Columbus suburb) and Justin Wodtly (3* .8634 DT from Cleveland Heights) have several crystal balls to Michigan St but also seem to have some interest in us.. Hopefully we can snag one of those.

Outside of those, I'm unsure of who else is on the horizon for us.

On my phone so can't quote it but Carrington Valentine committed to UK per Twitter
