Quote:Saturday, the scrimmaging is different as Mississippi State invited UAB over for a ‘secret’ competition. It is secret in the sense that no fans or media can attend, nor information—including statistics—be publicized. Howland isn’t concerned with p.r. on this point though.

“UAB will be a good barometer for us,” he said. A NCAA participant last season, the Blazers indeed offer Mississippi State a measurement of how much progress has been made under this new regime…and what more must get done before the games begin for real.

i hear we already won
Yep... Twice.
We've played them unofficially for a gazillion years. Why not schedule an official game or, better yet, a home-and-home for once?

What was our previous series with them? 2 for 1 (that's how I remember it, but my memory is 70% right about 40% of the time)

The last series was supposed to be a 4 year home and home. After the second game in Starkville...the game UAB was leading handily at half time. The SEC refs kept extending the game by continually adding time to the clock throughout the second half allowing the Bulldogs enough time to crawl in front and win by two in the last minute. There were also two or three mysterious calls that went their way near the end.

Shortly thereafter, MSU cancelled the remaining two games and the two teams haven't played a regular season game since.

FWIW, the first 2 or 3 secret scrimmages were against Georgia Tech, another team that won't play us when it counts.
Hopefully our mole is on stand by ready to feed us updates today.
Any update?
we had 3 players with triple-doubles. All off the bench

That was the game that Mo Finley went off on them and we still got beat. What a lousy bus ride back home ( especially since we got there way too early and had to hang around waiting on the arena to open )
@GoodmanESPN: Malik Newman (turf toe) did not play -- and Mississippi State handled UAB easily. Craig Sword had 23 points.

@HoesLoveJoeDirt: UAB lost to Mississippi St. in a scrimmage game by 7 .. Lil bruh Chris had 15 points and 9 rebounds

hopefully our guys just weren't taking the scrimmage seriously. Haase said on media day, remember we were a minute & 15 secs & 4 points away from finishing with a non winning record. We had one good week last year.
Crap...does that mean our Final4 run is over?
Oh no, we suck again
There's a lot of talent over there. They weren't a great team last season, but that falls on the former coach.

Since there are no official stats or results, someone on the MSU board claimed it was an 82-62 score. It's a scrimmage. Take nothing away from it. Just like the upcoming exhibition game. http://www.elitedawgs.com/showthread.php...-Scrimmage
MSU was terrible last year. Luckily scrimmages don't mean anything

Should we be worried about this purported outcome?

Yes . It's the end of the world. Get your canned goods and head to the cellar.
Schools can release stats from scrimmages beginning this season. The scrimmages cannot be promoted & no press or public are allowed to view it.
If we lost to MSU on the road, we're still ahead of losing to UNC-Pembroke at home.
