Fantastic! It'll be great to (hopefully) play Duke. Don't sleep on Penn State either. They've been historically poor, but have had 2 Top 100 recruits (2015 and 2016) in consecutive classes.
I thought this event was a tournament.
Is it somewhat funny that UC gets invited to these type of tournaments or opportunities to play schools like Duke or gets games against Ohio State when UC will be in somewhat of a rebuilding year. Just asking.

In no way, shape or form will UC be rebuilding next year. Caupain, Johnson, Evans, Clark, Washington, Jenifer, Cumberland, Scott. Plenty of talent and experience...

Yeah...I'm pretty sure having to replace Jermaine Sanders isn't what I would consider "rebuilding" 03-lmfao

He's talking about next year, not this year. We have to replace Ellis, Cobb, Shaq and Deberry.
I'm sorry, but there's every chance that's a year we step backward. Not saying it will be from the ground up, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that we'll be rebuilding. I think Cumberland will be good, but will he be starter/impact material right away? Otherwise the two spot will depend on Johnson. Having two very good centers like Ellis and Deberry is a luxury. Kyle Washington may end up being good enough to replace some of what's gone, but what of Nysier Brooks? Shaq gone, means a lot more will be expected of Evans. If the staff can land someone like Ahmed, that will probably be enough to soften the blow.

It is a tournament, which means we're not guaranteed to play Duke. It's a strange set up as well. In a nutshell, there are two brackets. One bracket has teams from power conferences (or, better conferences). My assumption is that we'll be in a bracket with the teams who have already been announced.

The other bracket - which hasn't been announced - is made up of top teams from lower level conferences. This year the lower level teams are Vermont, Buffalo, Niagara, and NC A&T (no slouches). The tournament begins with the four teams from the power bracket hosting games against two of the teams from the other bracket. So, UC will get two home games against pretty good small conference opponents. The tourney then moves to Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, where we will play a tournament with the three other teams in our bracket. I'm guessing that we'll play Penn State first round, with Duke matching up against URI. Winners play in the championship, losers in the consolation. Same thing will happen with the other bracket.

Other than Ellis, I really don't see why it woukd be difficult to replace any of the rest the departures. Cronin needs to step up the recruiting game, as far as impact guys coming in right away. Maybe with UL in trouble, we can steal some of their targets. I'd like to see us try and get skilled kid who can shoot with that class.

The level of recruits coming in and contributing early has gone up significantly these past few years, and every indication is that this year's class and next (with Cumberland) are only continuing that upward trajectory. On a skilled white kid who can shoot, how about just a kid who can shoot? What on earth does being white have to do with it?

I've seen all four plenty...
This is awesome news. Losing Ellis and Deberry will hurt but they aren't elite superstars we should still be good next year.

Is there any way we can ignore jarr being a dumb hilljack and just be happy about this news?
UC will even have a guy with experience in beating Duke!

Is Ellis a projected 2nd round pick?

You're right. I'll take a skilled black, yellow, or purple kid who can shoot.

Back on topic, Duke is currently the elite program in college basketball and has been pretty much for the past 30 years. Would be a huge opportunity to make a national statement like in Alaska. That is still my favorite game of all time.

I am talking about next year 2016 2017 season.

Losing 4 starters both bigs plus shak and point guard who will get most of the PT this year is rebuilding.

4 starters? I count 2 unless Cobb starts this year. Caupain and kj both juniors, Clark is a sophomore

New tourney in Nov. 2017 in Cayman Islands. GSM has Cincy, Iowa, UAB and Wyoming in 8 team field.

Checks the minutes played that tells who will be missed next year. It's not who starts its who finished.
