Obviously, computer rankings are not without their flaws, but I'm always interested in the perspective they provide. There is no 'reputation' and at this point, there is no data from last season included.

Quote:Since 1997, Solecismic Software has published a college football rating system. The system is designed to predict games, and has predicted the winner of Division I-A contests about 70% of the time.

The system received an overhaul for the 2007 season. As before, the system takes into account the final score of the game, but the law of diminishing returns applies. A couple of late touchdowns in a blowout have no effect on a team's ranking.

Starting in 2007, key statistics from each game are factored into the system. This should result in more dominant teams rising more quickly in the ratings, and will allow more precision in predicting scores.

Here are the top 25 teams according to his system, which is included in the Massey composite:

1 Clemson ACC 7-0
2 Louisiana State SEC 7-0
3 Iowa B10 7-0
4 Ohio State B10 8-0
5 Notre Dame Ind 6-1
6 Alabama SEC 7-1
7 Oklahoma B12 6-1
8 Michigan State B10 8-0
9 Memphis AAC 7-0
10 Baylor B12 7-0
11 Texas Christian B12 7-0
12 Oklahoma State B12 7-0
13 Stanford P12 6-1
14 Michigan B10 5-2
15 Florida SEC 6-1
16 Utah P12 6-1
17 Toledo MAC 7-0
18 Houston AAC 7-0
19 Temple AAC 7-0
20 Navy AAC 5-1

21 Florida State ACC 6-1
22 Northwestern B10 6-2
23 Mississippi SEC 6-2
24 Southern California P12 4-3
25 Penn State B10 6-2

Nice!!!!
There are how many different computer polls that go into the Massey composit? I'm sure you can find more than a bunch of AAC teams up near the front. I wouldn't put much stock in anything that Iowa #3 in the country 03-drunk
