The white underclass does get less attention these days, that is true.
Outstanding video. I probably disagree pretty strongly with that former labour lefty, but he may be one of the few lefties I could sit down and have a good conversation on politics with.
I found it interesting that the UK is very similar to the USA as far as crime statistics for black people. Also I completely agree with him. Having honest conversations about race is almost impossible nowadays.

And their culture is repeatedly slammed in the media.

All races underclasses are slammed in the media, but you're not wrong. The fact is that when the majority of the wealth and positions of power in a nation are held by a single race for many different reasons, some of those reasons being racist policies and practices from the past, there tends to be less societal pressure aimed at protecting that race from possibly unfair criticisms. It's the same reason why a black person calling me a cracker holds little weight compared to calling a black person a n*gger, my grandparents didn't live in a nation where they had police hosing them down for protesting segregation or protesting the busing of their children into better schools. I hold no guilt over any of this, I took no part in it, but I also know those policies took place in my parents generation. It wasn't hundreds of years ago, and I somewhat expect the pendulum to swing the way it has.

I do think that it's unfortunate that so much emphasis is put onto race in this country in regards to many issues. That's not to say I don't think racism exists or racist policies are wholly a thing of the past, but I do think focusing on race alone sometimes sells bigger issues short and I'm relatively certain it's done on purpose for a variety of reasons; all media plays it up to get viewers and both parties play it up in order to excite their voter bases.

IMO, that's my honest discussion of this.
