As I've tried to say over and over for the past six months replacing a four-year starting QB is perhaps the hardest thing to do in all of college football. Marshall and ODU's offensive numbers are validating that point.

And it will be interesting to see how WKU does next season also.
Shouldn't PPG be in there somewhere?

Last time I checked no one won a game by yards. Not only that YPG can be very misleading if a teams played a couple good offensive teams or a few weak ones. Same goes for offensive numbers...one team might put up 200 yards more in games vs FCS schools or first (2nd, 3rd) year FBS programs. If I can find a hour or two today, I will list each school in a game log..that tells a whole picture

I am assuming this is because we are still consider FBS transition.

Nah, our defense/special teams give us a lot of short fields. Scoring offense is much higher than our total offense. Not the same as last year but not nearly as bad as that stat portrays.
So Tech is Top 25 in the Country on Offense and Top two in the CUSA on Defense? How the hell are we 4-3???

We are so good that we beat ourselves in an attempt to even the playing field with our opponent.
Again I think it's good time to point out....

POINTS
yards
POINTS
yards
POINTS

which one of those are more important? Yards are so meaningless unless they are put into context ..

POINTS explain themselves

Cause the defenses in CUSA blow apparently. If our defense is number 2 the rest of y'all are terrible!
Running the ball and playing good defense wins this conference. Look back to the previous alignment with the spread 'em out and gun it offenses at Tulsa and Houston against the more conservative offensively (and much better defensively) UCF and ECU teams that won the championships. USM in 2011 over UH as well.

yo wkuyg....these stats seem to explain a lot.

bu.....bu.....bu.....but yards. yards. yards.
As noted, YARDS are important but within context. For example, here's the stats from a recent CUSA game.

Team A - Total Yards - 439
Team B - Total Yards - 277

Even the First Downs were lopsided.
Team A had 26 First Downs
Team B had 14 First Downs

Which team won? Team B won by a score of 31-10.
A few more stats...CUSA from year 1 till today

I know I've read Marshall fans think they have the best ST stats in the conference and I would like to here why. If you look at the below stats Marshall punts more than any school and they are 7th in punt return average. The stats doesn't show defensive ST stats so is that it?

Sorted by kick return average

Interesting to see WKU close to the top in scoring defense. Defense has won this league recently.
