I originally thought 5-8k. Lee Fitting threw out 8-12k.

Given that we have:
Current Students 22k
Living alums 50k
Harrisonburg pop 50 k

I am revising my projection upward based on my unscientific survey that has revealed "Everyone is Going to This Thing". Now 102k seems a bit high, but 8k seems low. lets call it somewhere between 10k and 50k.

Latest Quinnipiac survey has the Quad turnout at 15k

anybody else sensing a field of dreams moment here?

what is anybody's guess?
We have 110k living alumni, not 50k. I don't think 12k is unrealistic. It really depends on student turnout more than anything. Considering 8k are going to the game, there will be at least half of those going to gameday plus at 1k without tickets going. That's being conservative too.
I haven't seen the "total number of Dukes on the Quad" line on 5dimes yet, but I'm sure it will be up soon
We will have more at least twice as many people on the quad as Richmond college has students (~4200 current).

FWIW I've heard the number of 130k living alums....maybe the 110k is "graduated" and the extra 20k are current students? It's a great number either way.

I know the term alumni really includes anyone that attended a school, even if I personally define it as holding a degree from a school.
Last I checked students don't count as alumni.
I haven't seen the 130k figure by any official JMU publication. If you can supply it I'll believe it.
how many show up and leave early?

I think that is the real question. How many will show up by 9:00 am and stay the full 3 hours as opposed to coming in and out? I can certainly see students coming at 9:00 and then ducking out early to go eat or something.
Might see a steady stream of people coming and going all AM. Imagine the Quad will be rockin!!

It will be quite live. To walk down those steps to the quad will be something special

I can also envision it being more of the opposite. Hungover students sleep in a little too long, or stragglers can't find parking and it ends up ballooning closer to noon.
Have faith. It will be crowded start to finish. People aren't going to want to miss Corso's pick.

I have waited my whole life for it. Never would miss it at all

That's my question. How many start to get bored by 10:00?

Thankfully this is the one thing motivating most to stay. Thank god it's last.
So what time do most plan on showing up to the quad. I'm just trying to get a sense of "how late is too late".

Half the guys and most of the girls will have no idea about that.

I think the biggest crowd will be at 9:00.

Probably close to 7:45-8.
