Did Boone just barely miss out on hosting it?

Well, it was never going to happen for the Georgia Southern game this year because it's on a Thursday.

That said, I'm admittedly jealous that North Dakota State and now JMU have gotten to host Game Day and we never did during our 3-year championship run.

ESPN usually goes to FCS Sites for the one week they do this. It's the one week of coverage FCS gets that they never get again.
good for those d-bags...

go stAte! beat the cajuns!
I just don't understand how they can give it to JMU, give it three times to NDSU, and not once give it to us for all the success we had while FCS.

I do think if we were playing on a Saturday this week, we have a very good chance at hosting.

This is a new "usual." They hadn't been to an FCS site in quite a few years until they started with NDSU 3 years ago. They'd been to a couple of D3's since an FCS school if I'm remembering correctly.

I think in the past they were just going to the studio on the occasion there wasn't a big game to go to.

I think ESPN ultimately realized at some point that there were big games in College Football that didn't just involve top teams, so they started going to smaller schools whenever there wasn't an obvious candidate among the P5 games that week.
Haven't they been to some ivey games in the recent past? Maybe Harvard/Yale?
I remember Fowler saying they almost went to App after Michigan, but it just didn't work out. Back then, Gameday didn't go to FCS schools.
Who cares that JMU got Gameday, after they pack the cameras up they will go right back to CAA obscurity. They hedged their bets, they can look forward to Gameday coming back in what another 15-20 years, if ever?
I'm happy for JMU fans. They've had a rough year, realizing they are going to spend the rest of their lives in football obscurity. Honestly, they need this way more than anyone else does.
This must be the week where Herbstreit and the rest of them complain about the cup cakes that all the P5s have on their schedules - there's usually a mid-season week where the schedule gets soft for the P5s.
I understand that one of the show's producers is a JMU grad. Also they are having a good year on the field with an unblemished record and a win over an FBS opponent. UR comes in with only one loss. It is a chance for them to showcase themselves FWTW.

Having producer Lee Fitting as an alum likely helped tremendously. There is also a huge dearth of quality games amongst the P5 this week. We kind of hit the jackpot with USC, Ole Miss and TAMU all laying eggs this weekend.

Should be an amazing experience and I'm going to try not to think that the admin will use this as an excuse to continue to justify the nonsense of not joining the Sun Belt in 2014.
They might have to sedate Herbie to get him to debase himself by having anything to do with an FCS game. And yes, it's cool to have them there but remember they are going to be spending 95% of the air time talking about all things FBS.

Oh absolutely, I have no delusions of anything else. They'll likely get our HC to do a bit early on like they do most weeks, but I highly doubt they mention the game at all beyond the open and close of the show.

Good for JMU. Would rather it be SBC member Appalachian State though.
Of course they wait until after Georgia Southern and Appalachian State move up to start doing this stuff.

I don't understand why post about JMU threads are allowed to stay on the SBC Board; however, post about Kennesaw State are moved. Why is this ocurring?

I agree. But JMU's administration will argue that this hosting for game day means that their 'plan' to go to the AAC or CUSA is working..
