Nice piece on Connor about how he isn't flashy. Takes subway to work. Outspoken on poverty/gay marriage (brother is gay).

18 months old found out he was deaf with a tumor, taught himself to read lips and talk. Can hear out of his right but not left.

Parents sent him into inner city of Detroit for better competition.

Small piece on UC and how he walked on, how he did against Oden (7 minutes 0 pts scored on him). Kelly moving him from TE to DE.
Barwin has always been one of my favorite players. Glad he has found success in the NFL, and in life. Seems like a really awesome dude. Would love to have a beer with him.
The dude was always a team first player. Changed positions because the team was in desperate need of athletes on that side of the ball. He was going to be the starter at tight end that year. He walked on the basketball team because Andy Kennedy had such a small lineup in size and number. He was a substantial contributor logging valuable minutes against Syracuse (regular season) and other games. He is either my most favorite or one of my most favorite Bearcats.
A true Bearcat legend.
Few players in the history of UC Sports make me prouder to be a Bearcat. The man did so much here in two sports, is having a great career in the NFL and is making his mark away from the game. Just a class act all around.

Couldn't agree more. He's as real as they come.
Barwin is my favorite Bearcat of all time.

But being outspoken on social issues does not make you a great person. Let's put it this way: if he was outspoken about gun rights and the lives of unborn children, would you have included that in your list of his positive traits?

Opinions are like a$$holes - everyone's got them, and just because yours is loud and makes noises doesn't make you a better person.
I was simply laying out what was discussed in the E:60. If they had mentioned he was outspoken about gun rights I would have listed it. It was not a list of positive traits it was a rundown of the piece.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

Don't back away from it, those all WERE positive traits, as well as a rundown of the piece. Speaking out in support of equal human rights is a very admirable and inspiring thing to do. Given the platform he has and the highly polarizing nature of the topic, the fact that he is using it to try and make a difference makes him even more amazing.

This guy and Schaffer are tied for my all time favorite Bearcats. Both on and off the field. Nakamura isnt far behind.
