Coastal will add beach volleyball this current season. We will utilize the existing volleyball staff and players. We will be an affiliate of the A-Sun. They've been planning this for a year or two but makes even more sense to do it with the transition to FBS.

Any other Sun Belt schools offer beach volleyball? Does it appear that the conference will sponsor it at any time?

Pics or it didn't happen... I'm actually kind of surprised you guys didn't already offer beach volleyball.
NOT A SINGLE PIC????

Not even in the article?

You're dead to me.
I know GaSt and ULM offer it. I wish we did. All misogynist remarks aside, beach volleyball really is a fun sport to watch.
I know its new and growing fairly rapidly. JSU begins beach/sand volleyball in the spring and like coastal will use the existing staff and players.

We haven't started it yet ... so no pics.

I think many schools are adding it because it isn't that much more money and it helps with equity issues.
If its the same scholarshiped players how would it help. It seems it would be more help by having more women with scholarships. Unless perhaps you could then add additional player for each sport therefore having a larger volleyball team than previously.

Someone who knows the NCAA rules better can clarify but my understanding is since it is a different sport schools are essentially able to count the players twice. So they get the benefit of let's say having 12 players but counting them as 24 ... or something like that.

Yeah...I think it has something to about equity in the "opportunities" which doesn't necessarily translate into equity in "scholarships."
Yesssss!!! Hopefully, USA is next.
I vote any new tv contract requires all beach volleyball games to be televised (in HD)

Uniform requirements need to look similar to pro beach volleyball.
Don't want any confusion as to which volleyball your watching.
I make one comment about a football player and get razzed...then there's this thread and everyone jumps on board. [Image: shaking-head-sad-smiley-emoticon.gif]

We've got an ex-pro beach volleyball player / alum coaching in Statesboro these days too, would be an easy sort to add IMO.
