Why did he have access to a gun? It's against Northern Arizona University regulations to possess a firearm on school property.
It's also against NAU regulations to discharge a firearm on campus
http://nau.edu/residence-life/life-on-ca...residence/
Quote:5.1 Weapons and Explosives: Possession, use, or sale of any incendiary, explosive, or destructive device or any firearm on the University campus and within University housing is not permitted. At no time will live ammunition of any type be permitted in or on University premises.
5.2 Handguns: Any and all types of pistols (including revolvers, automatics, derringers, etc.) and any and all types of air- or gas-operated guns (including paintball guns, airsoft guns and any object reasonably perceived to be a gun) are prohibited on campus and within University housing at all times.
5.3 Discharging Weapons: The firing of any type of firearm, bow and arrow, slingshot, or any other weapon on campus is prohibited.

Every single CCP holder agrees with this expert. There is almost no discussion to be had, this CCP holder is in the wrong.

Yup.
And should faces charges just as soon as her CCP is revoked.

The real question is whether or not we will see an increase or decrease in this sort of activity in the future.

I don't think we will, just as we haven't at any other time. I just think this person was an idiot.

History shows that CCP holders are among the most law abiding Americans. There is no reason to assume otherwise in the future.
FWIW, Fit, here is how a responsible CCP holder will conduct themselves:
*You must use appropriate force.
*You must try to avoid lethal force.
*You can not be a willing participant in the altercation.
*You must be in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm.
The above is why you so rarely hear about CCP holders getting into legal trouble. Remember, a self-defense shooting is the second worst possible outcome. The worst possible outcome is the intended victim dying.

Agreed...it's not the CCP folks I'm most concerned about...they at least get some training. I just don't want everyone packing heat. It's not going to end well.

I'm sure you are correct. I just don't want to be around when someone decides they need to use their gun.
