The NCAA has banned SMU from 2016 postseason play and has suspended Larry Brown for 30 percent of the team's games this season because of a lack of head coach control, a source close to the situation said.

The 30 percent ban for Brown means he will miss nine games total. The school also will be hit with nine scholarship losses over the next three years, a source said, although it was two below the limit this past season so can count those toward the nine. SMU also has been placed on three years' probation.

The school can appeal the findings.
I have known Larry Brown since the mid 70's,really like him and I think he is one of the best teachers of basketball ever but its time to go.He should step down as head coach and find something else to do.
Pretty quick sequence that the NCAA just played against SMU. Have to wonder how this reflects on the speed of the ongoing UNC saga.
Have to wonder what will happen Louisville as well and what role Keatts may have had in it-if any.If it turns out to be true it could rumble right here in Wilmington. If he was the head recruiter at the time and should know what is going on 100% of the time with recruits and visits-I have to think there is some truth in the mess.
Keatts wasn't mentioned in the book and hasn't been tied to this at all and won't be.
How do you know this?If he was the head recruiter there and if it happened -I would think he had to know.
I think UNCW should call him in and ask him the tough questions right now.If he had any doubt or questions-they should take action.Waiting around for the book to come out is being pretty damn naive.UL is in a ton of hot water behind this and he was there in a very close spot to where it is all related.

What Louisville coach Rick Pitino didn't say about escorts said a lot
October 2, 2015 9:07 pm ET

As far as press conferences go, it was wild. Wild because of the details of the allegations. Wild because of the timing. Wild because it featured questions about dancers and hookers and cash and a staff member. But it was mostly wild because nobody denied any of it.

(Pitino) never said he doesn't believe what's alleged to have happened on his watch ever happened. In fact, at one point, a reporter opened a question by saying, "You've mentioned that you don't believe these allegations are true," at which point Pitino said, "I didn't say that."

They know they are busted. Pretty hard to believe the guys overseeing all these visits and recruiting were completely clueless.
Yay. Mullet and Jones'n teaming up to be the new anti-Keatts smear squad. Little early for all this, eh boys?

Mullet, don't let the door hit you on the way out...
Oh wait... I am the door.

*snicker snicker snicker*

For posting a CBS article with actual press conference quotes
I don't team up with anybody when it comes to crap like this. There has to be some truth in this and somebody knows the deal other than the director of ops.We shall see what happens with this.I know that fans can be delusional and never want to think that their guy has done anything wrong but it all most always ends poorly.Go on over to the UNC board and check it out if you need to see it for yourself.Keatts should be talking to the man in charge at UNCW very soon.I am quite sure Keatts will go with the no comment for now until he can talk with his lawyer and the boys at UL.

So, what makes you think that conversation hasn't taken place?
Maybe it has taken place and maybe he says zero about the whole deal.I have no way of knowing this-same as you or anybody else on this board.
I do know that 95% of the time it seems like this stuff is at least true in part and coaches always know what is going on.UNC is a prime example of this and I think the head coach there has always known exactly what was going on.It also appears they might skate on the whole mess.

Assumptions assumptions assumptions.

The truth is that nobody knows either way just yet.

The difference is we are giving it time for the facts to come out before we go ranting on a board ready to convict a coach.
Trolls. Trolls. Trolls. Don't hear much from the EZU posters unless it's negative, just like the Mullet.
mullet's inability to use spaces between sentences offends me. Other than that I don't notice what he posts anymore. Just brush it off like a mosquito and your life will be happier. Trust me. I took the 90-day "ignore Mullet" challenge and lost 10 pounds.
You are very sensitive!Sorry to offend you my man.You will get over it.

What a pointless thread.
I actually read some of the book and I would say it is somewhat entertaining but has zero evidence to back up anything the writer claims as fact. My guess is the NCAA could look at it as a deal that must be checked out or not. That would be depending on what direction the wind is blowing that day. I have zero faith in the NCAA to get anything right. I also think someone could end up in court as a result, if this stuff turns out to be true someone has to know something- if it happened.

How can you make such painfully vague statements and then say, “There has to be some truth in this and somebody knows the deal other than the director of ops…. Keatts should be talking to the man in charge at UNCW very soon.”

No facts are offered, but you’ve already implicated Keatts. Why? I get that you're a pessimistic dude, but are you so disappointed that Keatts had a successful inaugural season that you're going to resort to fear mongering?
