In reference to the 4 OOC games...

Beamer:"They’re exhibition games, they’re preseason games. Now it’s on to conference games. Now it’s down to being really important”
He has a point. You're in an AQ league. Win it and go to a NY6 bowl.

No. No he doesn't.

Just a few years ago they were trying to compete for national titles. Now, that's apparently not a goal as ooc games aren't important to him.

But he said "I know what the problem is" two years ago. I guess he hasn't bothered to fix it. But he did hire Loeffler.

He's already named who he wants to replace him, one of the names being his own son lmao.

He will coach in 2016. And if vt is smart, they'll have him announce his retirement and do a farewell tour season of sorts.

For once I agree with Marge.

Sounds exactly like Mike London. Misery loves company.
It all goes back to his wife's accident combined with a lack of a true QB since little Vick. When they lost Russell Wilson and Mike Glennon to NC State that took 6 years worth of top college QB play from VT. It finally died before the Sugar Bowl with so many of the players smoking the funny weed and then getting stupid when they were screwed on a funny weed deal.
It's pretty sad to see things slip. But it does happen to the best of coaches. Hopefully the transition will be smooth.
NC state wasn't the downfall of vt. I can aasure you of that.

I think complacency has been (and still is) the downfall of VT.

As an outsider watching, to me the huge difference the last few years for VT is the lack of a dominant defense. It seemed like for so long they always had a top 10 defense. Bud Foster is still there, I'm not sure if it's missing out on some recruits or what, but they are clearly not what they once were on that side of the ball.
We've seen this movie before at FSU and Penn State. Legendary coaches holding on too long.
Ok, I'm finally in the 'Frank Beamer needs to retire' camp.

To some of us that 1 premiere exhibition game a year means more than almost all our ACC games.
It seems similar to Bobby Bowden....but that became...complex.

Bobby's drivers where $$$$ (he had money issues due to bad investments), getting his son a job (but his son couldn't spell football), and just enjoyment of a powerful position.

What are Beamers drivers? Anyone know?

I'm Hokie Mark, and I approve this message.

Until the loss to ECU, I was thinking VT needed to keep Bud Foster. Now I'm thinking fresh start...

In 11 months I expect you to be telling me vt will win 10 games.

I looked at the roster improvements and the schedule and I really thought they had the players to get it done. I figured lose to Ohio State (with 20% chance to upset), lose another game to the schedule... 10-2... but the coaching staff is NOT getting it done.
