OK. thanks for the clarification.
Does Clark's contract change anything? If they vote no, then what happens?

More than likely that money will have to be raised elsewhere. It doesn't change football coming back or Clark's contract. The stuff UAB has to go through, I wish students always got to vote on whether or not they wanted their student fees to be raised for whatever reason.
They will vote yes in a landslide

I'm hearing the same. Of course it all depends on turnout.
It's just another hurdle. Ingram, Watts, and Bolton can spout all they want about who's idea it was but we know where the bodies are buried. It will be a landslide win if turnout is good and it will be another hurdle cleared.
And dollars in the coffers. Move that fundraising needle!

It all depends on who is counting the votes

Way too many people have their jobs and careers on the line to even entertain something like that. It'll be a landslide with out a doubt.
FWIW - I don't think anyone will monkey with the vote counts. There will be internal debate regarding what the outcome means... i.e., if it's 85% yes, but with an 8% turnout... what good is that? etc.
That will be the biggest issue is % of turnout.
I was on the yik yak app today and someone posted to vote yes tomorrow, which by the way the vote is the 29th and 30th. Many students said that the vote doesn't matter because contracts have already been signed and that students are being played and they are just trying to to steal more money from us.. Also many of them said they can't even spare $25 which is kinda ridiculous, but I found it to be an interesting result..
It's a false premise anyway. When have they ever ask students to vote on increases in student fees.....I'll tell you never...until now. So keep that in mind because a tution & fees hike is right down the road and watch them sneak it through with a hand shake and a nod.

Precisely. Years ago when they added the mandatory meal plan of hundreds of dollars each semester (not just $25), there was never a student vote. Don't even think the USGA was allowed to vote on it either. It was simply deemed mandatory and students were supposed to accept it.

How it's spun (and by what mouthpieces), or if it's spun at all, will give us a good idea of whether and how the Board is willing to continue to fight reinstatement.
How else can you spin low turnout in this case? If the turn out is low on a measure that would cost them money, then obviously it's not a big deal to them.

I would think higher turnout would mean that they don't support the increase.

I was a student during that time and if they had brought it to a vote, it probably would have been voted down. Sodexho can get a sweetheart no-bid, no-vote contract worth MILLIONS every year (the minimum meal plan for a full-time non-resident student was over $500 in the first year) but $25 a semester for football is too much and must be voted on. Give me a break.
As a parent of a college student now I am in favor of the meal plans although they should not be required.

They seem to be a little bit pricey as well, but if you get the unlimited meal plan you are covered.
