"A lot" meaning how many people, roughly?

It's the one you didn't see voting no. 03-shhhh
I've seen a few students on Twitter voice opposition. It was never going to be 100%. I'm just hoping for a solid 60+% majority.
Polls open for UAB students to vote on fees to support football

You can't control every student. All you can do is put the word out and wait till the dust clears.
If you want to increase turnout, you needs Poles on poles at the polls.
I haven't directly spoken with anyone in opposition, but I've heard from other students some of the reasons. The most prevailing opinion I've heard is simply not wanting to cough up more money regardless of small an amount. For them, it was really the matter of asking for more money when tuition is still going up. Then you have some people that feel like we, the students, are being forced to make up for the mistakes of the administration. I haven't heard of anyone straight up not wanting the programs back, though.

I found the easily way to explain the reason for the increase is that it indirectly adds value to our degrees. UAB is a first class institution so it only makes sense if it participates in the level of play benefiting its stature. Any prominence in that regard only helps the university, and, whenever the school looks good, we look good as a result. A small fee has the potentially to drastically alter the perception of our university as a whole.
It was on Yik Yak. There were a fair number of voting no from people on yik yak.

Sorry I went away for a while.
It would not be outside the realm of possibility that some negative feedback you're reading is a ruse.

The Watzis employed some indigents to counter us on social media.
My guess is that it will be six month before the Wattzis know YikYak exists.
Fogey alert: What the hell is yik yak?
Then again YY might've been created by them in the first place just for disinformation purposes - has anyone ever heard of YY before in Social Media? Is it akin to CompuServe or MySpace?

When will results be announced?

Short version: twitter competitor.

They have a Dark Ages PR firm. We have a Courtney. I rest easy on the social media front.

I ride with Courtney as well. She was at the Green this morning passing out cards with voter information to students. Man, I would love seeing her and Tim on UAB's own Board of Trustees ( I prefer Regents myself) someday.
Any idea how long we will wait to know something after polling closes?
The way my daughter explained Yik Yak was that if there is an 80 positive rating on the vote, it means that there could be 160 positives and 80 negatives or 80 positives and 0 negatives. Don't think it is statistically sound for knowing the actual vote but they use it to get a feel of what other students are thinking in aggregate.
Who cares who said what on Twitter or in the hallway of the BEC or on Yik Yak or Snapchat or Tinder or Grindr. None of those things are statistically representative of the student body or those who voted. Just let it go until there's a result and it is what it is.

Are you seriously saying that the University of Alabama Board of Trustees created the Yik Yak platform and tricked a bunch of college students to start using it just to screw with this vote?
Yik yak is where you post anonymous posts about anything. Yesterday morning there were a ton of people saying no for reasons like "I don't care about football anyway" and "why should we have to pay for football" and "$25 is a lot to me right now, plus we already have enough help." But as the day went on I saw a huge wave of people shutting out the negativity and you really saw the students that were passionate about the teams and what the vote could mean. At the end of the day I think it was a larger number of yes than no.
So if the voting is through BlazerNet then I assume it's being tabulated in real time and the final numbers known the minute after polls close. Will we hear today? Tomorrow? When the BoT says so?
Per Allan Collins (Fox6), the results will be known at 7PM tonight.
