The Knoxville paper is running a poll asking readers which team is the best in the State of Tennessee: Memphis or the University of Tennessee.

I elicit the support of our conference mates to vote for Memphis.

Thank you.
I think it's funny that they're even asking the question. Bet that riles up the Bawling Vawl fans.
I wont participate in gaming a poll in another state. 07-coffee3

Seriously though, maybe it should be settled on the field. 05-mafia
I'm just looking forward to Thursday game.

We would be thrilled to do that. But Tennessee refuses to play us, even though they were fine with playing us when we were bad.
So UT is scared of Memphis now?

The have a long history of playing us when we are dog **** and finding ways out of games when we improve.
It's fun to mess with hillbillys. AND Memphis is up in the poll! To be fair, most UT fans don't have internet. Or computers. Or electricity. Or....well, now I just feel bad.

Something else they don't have...

They canceled our game back in 2004 the year after we went 9-4 w/ a win over Eli Manning and Mississippi. It was Danny Wimprine's senior year and DeAngelo's junior year. That game never got played. It temporarily showed up on our 2017 tentative schedule but after last season it has mysteriously disappeared again...
Thank you, we have already counted your vote.

The Tigers are better this year. 59.73% (1,357 votes)
Are you kidding? 40.27% (915 votes)

Total Votes: 2,272
Uhh wait what? BG lost by 29 to UT and lost by 3 to Memphis. Are we trolling UT or are people serious?

Terry Mohajir at ASU has been trying to call you guys. We can fill that date.
If Memphis played UT in a bowl game, who has the edge?(UT sorry Memphis)

By your logic Jacksonville St is nearly as good as Houston.
If UT isn't the better team something is seriously amiss. The fact that the question has even been asked is a giant step forward for the perception of one program and a giant PR step backwards for another.

I agree with the 'giant step forward for one program' part --- on the other part, Tennessee is still pretty solid IMO.

Little bit different situation.

Tennessee has been horrible the last few years by their standards even missing bowls. BJ brought in a couple of recruiting classes so they were hyped up this preseason.

BGSU played @ Tennessee the first game of the season. UT has an amazing atmosphere. I'll give them that. It's tough to go in there and beat them especially if you're not a team that can match them.

Memphis played @ BGSU the 3rd game of the season. It was their home opener and they had just beat Maryland @ Maryland by 3+ TD's.

I don't think BGSU would beat UT but play that game in the same situation and I doubt they win by 29 points...

2 games to work out kinks and get into a groove can make all the difference in the world.

Not necesarily, a clearly inferior team from Memphis beat a UT team that had Peyton Manning in the mid-90's.

The poll is gonna be heavily weighed toward Tennessee, it's a Knoxville paper, what do you expect? Is this poll going to determine playoff position? Who cares if you win the poll or not?

In all seriousness, they may be able to beat UH and all of the AAC. They're a gritty southern FCS team like App. State a few years ago that has proven they can win against teams with bigger athletes and more talent.
