Anybody hear what McClendon did to keep him out of the game this Saturday? Just saw on the OM site that he is being sidelined for a possible rules violation. We cannot afford this crap.
Did not hear, donot know, but if he must be suspended for a game, better this one than the two coming up. Personally, I don't know why they can't impose sanctions for screwing up team rules but require execution of the sanctions at a better time for the team.

I agree Wry. I think Goldie should sit out for our upcoming bye week. :D

Well, I will say this, it is big. From the things I hear, it has NOTHING to do with Ole Miss or an Ole Miss booster, but it is a NCAA rules violation.
I don't really want to stir any shee-aht up, but this is the God's honest truth. I'm not saying this will happen, but it is in the realm of possibilities:

Ole Miss could have to forfeit some of its games this season, thus costing us any championships and any bowl games.

I say this based on calls to UM SID this morning and talking to a few contacts I've got there. My pals told me, without getting into specifics, that it is very possible that Goldie ruined the 2003 season.

My friends added that we, they'll know more come Monday or Tuesday.

Now, while I was generally pessimistic as the season has progressed, most of that was to keep up my message board schtick. I have been pleased for the most part. Now I don't know what the hell to think , other than we need to go up to Oxford and run Goldie out on a rail! What the fock? We have the best SEC start since '63 and this little kid focks it all up? My goodness, someone upstairs really doesn't like us! The forces of the cosmos are really just against us, aren't they?!?!?!?!

I heard something about Goldie driving an Escalade.
Well since we don't know, we can't speculate without error.
To say it is a ncaa violation could be a killer or it could be a matter that just needs to be cleared up! If the kid has screwed us, and it is his fault, don't hesitate to get the tar and feathers!!!
We've patiently, for the most part, waited a long time to see UM in the hunt for a SEC title, and if someone knowingly broke ncaa rules, I have no problem with all of the fury of Donte's inferno falling upon them! :crying: :bang:  :saber:

So much for offensive balance.

I guess now we know what "treatment" means.
Goldie messed up, should be punished. Dio, I have a couple of friends in the Athletic Dept, and both are saying that we should not have to forefit games. That is why we are holding him out now, to prevent that type of thing down the road. Everything is fine, we still need to focus on winning. Remember, one game at a time. Forget Goldie, b/c it appears his season may be finished.

Why would we have to "forfeit" games. Please explain.

I'm sure you will all think I'm making this up now, but I had some weird feeling a while back that Goldie was going to mess up and get us in trouble somehow.
if we were playing goldie knowing that he had taken gifts from someone illegally, then the games we won that he played in, we would have to forefit. However, since we did not know, and since the gifts weren't from someone connected with Ole Miss atletics in any way, we should be fine.

Yeah, he does seem sort of thuggish.

I just hope that this crap doesn't screw us up for tomorrow's game. I mean, losing a key player for probably the rest of the season due to infractions could have a negative affect on our players' psyche. I'm sure we can fill his shoes but it creates too much mental adversity and disturbs team cohesion. I suppose we'll see tomorrow if what I say means anything.

I agree. The decrease in depth in the backfield is actually of less concern to me than the psychological effects.
Goldie might have signed with an agent...If that's the case. we need to find a way to charge the agent with a crime!!!!

As for the vehicle in question...There's an SUV around Starkville with the TAG name Goldie...It certainly doesn't belong to our Goldie but to a certain MSU player with whom MSU and UM are rapped up in an NCAA investigation over...sound confusing? And it ain't Tommy Kelly (though he received a Jeep from MSU boosters)
Yesterday, just in casual conversation, I heard 3 different possible explanations....each sounding worse than the next. I wish they would just tell us what's going on and end all of the speculation.
They can't tell the press until the NCAA knows officially, which can get tied up in paperwork and take some time.

Langston sends me emails daily, mass, press-release type emails that is, and I'm on the lookout for the explanation. I think I know what's going on and I hope that info is rumor and not reality!
word is that he has appealed to the NCAA to be re-instated, but is likely gone for the year b/c of the slowness of the clearinghouse. However, I keep hearing over and over that no Ole Miss booster or coach was involved, and that there is nothing for us to worry about. I say we just wait it out, and let this die. We are giving other teams ammo against us, and honestly, there is nothing we did if my peoples are correct.
