Reported by NIck on twitter that Martin had ACL surgery and is out for the year. Will redshirt.

Whitaker practiced today, and Mathis is expected to play Saturday.
Nick who? Martin who? Link where?

:D
Jordan Martin.
Martin..our starting BCB last year
Carrying this forward - any word on how serious the hamstring injury is to Hunt? That could end up being a season long injury if not given time to recover. DJM ran well and I still consider him to be our #2 guy. Swanson performed well last year, but Moore is gonna get more yards most of the time with his compact size and power with some relatively decent speed.

Campbell said of Hunt's injury that he "doesn't think it is major at all", but I'm not sure he really knows. I wonder about Swanson to. I only saw him in for 1 play - did he get more? Wonder how he is coming along.
Hopefully Swanson will be back and get some significant time as well. I'd like to see some of Freshman Thompkins as well based on comments heard about his talent. It would be great if Hunt was only a cramp. DJM is really doing a nice job.
Listened to the rest of Campbell's presser. Said Voss's injury is not serious, and he will "get him back", he just doesn't know when. Said Swanson is nursing a sore ankle and they are concentrating on getting him better.
Coach said today Voss had a hip pointer, waiting to see how he progresses during the week. Said Kareem is probably questionable for stAte.
1st game back and Hunt already gets hurts? Are you serious...

I know that you can't prevent everything, but...who works with our running backs on strength & conditioning? Is it still the guy that came from Wisconsin-Green Bay (where there is no football team)?
Not knowing much about how things are done. But I think this needs to be asked. Are our guys getting the right conditioning ? He was out the first two games. How do they keep in playing shape?
I'm not trying to be critical. It just seems that in particular our running backs tend to be injury prone of late, so I just wonder if some schools do strength & conditioning for running backs the same as every other position or if they focus on some things unique to that position?

I don't know--I played some basketball and my daughter played volleyball, and I know that the approach between those 2 sports is different...
swanson turned an ankle, happens all the time to rbs. hunt looked in great shape, ran the ball 24 times, and pulled a muscle when - probably - dehydrated at the end of the game. this team is healthiest we've had in years at this point. it's only the fact that our big name guy and his backup are dinged up that this thread is even going this direction.
Chester was injured constantly his first couple years w high ankle sprains. Tait lost a season to an injury. Flu was hurt a lot. Lesson learned? RBs get hurt easily. Agree with phono that I don't recall a year recently when we had fewer injuries to key people.
