Has been named vice chancellor of the UA system. Per twitter @warondumb
Why do I have the Imperial Death March score in my head after reading that?
Puke.
Does this guy have to be confirmed by the senate for this position?

My first thought when I heard a new Vice-Chancellor was appointed was "Palpatine". Might as well have titled Mr. Ryan as "Darth".

No. His appointment is however subject to approval by the Board of Trustees. 07-coffee3
I'm so glad that the incestuous power mongering that has punctuated the UA system for so long has FINALLY ended...
WOW. 03-banghead
Do people still believe that Watts will be out at the end of the year? Appointments like this seem to suggest otherwise

The only thing I believe, is that until the FBI locks up the entire BOT + half of Goat hill , it will always be "Same $hit Different Day" for UAB.
I would say yes because this appointment assures them some level of oversight and base to attack from in the future when Watts is gone.
I think some folks have the two Watts mixed up. Ray L Watts is not the Raymond Watts going to LSU.

Agree with the bolded part, but to me the question remains, why would they want to get rid of someone who has proven he will do their bidding No Matter What, and replace him with someone else who may or may not be as subservient?

Watts is near 60 if not all ready therefore he'll be gone soon with or without the pressure of #FreeUAB on his shoulders. When he's gone they'll have a much younger guy in place to meddle for many years to come.

That is probably true, but I suspect "soon" = about 4 more years.

Alas, that is probably true, too.
The vile pumpkin is 61.
