This sets up as a very exciting week for EMU football.

We are coming off a really big win. BSU is coming off a 30+ point loss to Texas A&M, possibly a national surprise team. As WMU learned yesterday, it is tough to bounce back after playing a very, very tough team.

Plus being at home gives us a lot of intangibles.

BSU's QB was hurt yesterday, I think...
BTW, does Bell have hairline fractures? Does he have wires and drinking soup?

Are some fractures self-healing w/out surgical intervention?

The announcers stated several fractures and as I watched bell speaking on tv his teeth didn't move it looked to be wired.
Thanks. I was watching the game on an iPad so I couldn't tell.

BTW, a medical redshirt isn't relevant. Bell already had a regular redshirt. Only way to get 6 years is for 2 med. Red shirts and that isn't very common.
Dear Friends,
I think we have a good chance at winning this Saturday. It's hard to tell how good Ball State may be based on their first two games. Playing one FCS member, then playing what could be a national contender.
Eastern played with poise against Wyoming. I think that is important. It would be nice to beat Ball State, since we haven't in a long time.

Ken, I completely agree with you.

We aren't the most talented team in America, MAC, or probably MAC-MI, but we have played with poise and focus.

kudos to CC and the players.
BTW, we'll see if ODU and WYO slept on us.

BSU won't come out sleep walking.
And historically Ball State has always had our number, the games even at home aren't usually close.

Ah, but here is a chance for CC and his players to make a positive statement on Saturday that EMU is not a push over.

And it was great to wake up this morning as a EMU fan if you're a WMU fan you're looking at the boat for leaks.

Ball State's QB was replaced late in first half. He was not injured. Freshman backup was terrific and led Cards to 20-7 second half advantage in front of 104,000 fans at Texas A&M. Expect to see him get a lot of minutes next week at EMU.

Ehh, Western faced a team with an abnormal offense that they were I'll prepared to handle due to the focus on the Sparty game all off season. Expect them to do well still against regular offensive teams.
We will see about WMU. Yes they had some injuries but they should have all sorts of depth based on Fleck's recruiting rankings. And Georgia Southern was to be a gimme game the rest of WMU's schedule is pretty tough.

And while I'm encouraged by Roback's performance this past weekend one game doesn't make a career. Ball State should give him and our offense a stiff test.

I'm also encouraged that unlike past EMU teams after a close loss the players and coaches did fold their tents but got off the mat and went after it.

But 430 yards rushing our run defense has been horrible for many years despite coaching changes, I also saw a return to the sloppy tackling an EMU trademark. I think we had only 1-2 sacks at Wyoming we need to do a better job there as well on QB pressures.
The rush defense is laughable. The entire front seven just stand and dance with their blocker as the RB runs by. Either penetrate and get up field or shed a blocker!!!! All of the talk about our great LB core is laughable as well. 43 is always late and slow as a turtle, and 10 is very undisciplined and was totally gassed the second half. Attack, attack, attack. If you're going to make mistakes, at least make them being aggressive in the backfield!!!

No adjustments this week either by D coaches??? Put 8, 9 guys in box if you're giving up 7-10 yards per rush. Especially when the other team is on their 3rd string QB, are you kidding me?????? He wasn't going to hurt us one bit. Very frustrating to watch.

Yes, it was a fantastic win and there were a lot of positives, but 430 yards rushing, AGAIN, after last week? Creighton has to demand more from the D. If the older guys can't get it done, put the young guys in, can't be any worse, AND they get valuable experience AND build for the future.

Great win EMU 04-cheers

2ed most tackles for the game:

Haha, yeah right, stop!!!

Watch the YouTube link, and 3 of his snaps back to back to back at 5:00, 5:15, and 5:27 of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hWSgv8q...e=youtu.be

At 5:00 he's got a wide open gap to the QB run but he's too slow and whiffs diving at the QB's feet as he runs for 12 and a first down.

At 5:15 the RT just walls him off on a sweep right and he jogs behind the pack and falls on the pile 15 yards downfield. (Is that one of the 'assisted tackles' you're talking about?) 05-nono

At 5:27, with Wyoming on our 5 yard line, he slowly jogs, way to upright, directly toward the simple handoff left, and provides little resistance as he is just pushed out of the hole with ease and the RB walks into the endzone.

But I suppose he could have made the tackle on every single one of his other 7 snaps. 04-chairshot

Wow you watch a Wyoming highlight film and on three plays you imply he's no good!
well on tv in the 3ed q. He made a solo on punt cover for just a 3yd gain, the following set of downs for Wyoming he made 3 straight solos for no gain,2yds gain and 4yd gain!02-13-banana
But hey you must be a x NFL football coach, no it all and played in the league your self! Give me a break!04-chairshot04-rock

Give ME a break. Don't have to be an NFL football coach, just watch the film. The highlights don't lie. You're the one that touted his 7 tackles, 5 solos, in 10 snaps. In anticipation, I eagerly watched the only available video I could find, and lo and behold there he was for 3 plays. If you've got the other 7 plays please post.

Didn't say he was no good, but certainly has a LONG ways to go before he's a good starting MLB in the MAC.

Tell me where my evaluation of those 3 plays was off? Please enlighten us all.

Hope he has a long career and helps turn the program around.
