As I have mentioned before, I am a firm believer in first incorporating a kickoff chant then going from there. There are anywhere from five to ten kickoffs per game per team. It's an automatic chant that doesn't need to be started by anyone.

Some ideas:

"ODU LET'S GO BIG BLUE"
"FEAR THE JUNGLE"
"O...D...U" (everyone would have their hands up during the "O" then bring them down during the "D" until finally bringing them straight forward for the "U" while shaking their hands like a wizard/intimidation style)
"MONARCH BLUE...WE WILL BEAT YOU" (the students would start it with "MONARCH BLUE" followed by the rest of the stadium with "WE WILL BEAT YOU")
At this day and age. I don't think anyone really cares of Marshall did make the we are chant the most famous. It's easy. It's effective. Everyone gets it and can join in. Must start somewhere and if the administration runs with it that's awesome. I hope it catches on. We do have a small tradition. The lion roar after a first down. I know my son and all the kids around us love that. They all do their hands and roar along.

The lion roar always sounds like a toilet flushing to me. A group of us always make a sound like " U Who" after they announce a first down, right after the toilet flush errr lion roar.

This is my favorite idea by far.

+1 The admin is on board and willing to try to make it work because we said we wanted it a week ago, now we want to start over? Let's thank Dr Chandler for listening and helping, and show him that it wasn't a waste of his time to come over here. Its a good chant, most of the "original" chants mentioned in this thread are not, plus its great for basketball too.
I know some people will think its in bad taste, but I love how the Orioles fans all yell "o!" during the National Anthem at the point where it says "oh say does that star spangled..." It would work so well for the Monarchs too.

I don't like that particular practice, even if its convenient. I know that the O in ODU has the same phonetic qualities that the O in O's/Orioles has, but I feel that it would be really out of place here. The anthem, like the howitzer, is our way of honoring this country, the military that defends it, and the game that we have the privilege of playing/watching in this country. Some people are going to do it anyway, but I hope it does not catch on at any ODU games now or ever.

Jesus and I thought I liked to complain.

Va tech does lets go Hokies. Marsha does we are Marshall. Georgetown does Hoya saxa.

Countless other schools do similar chants to these. The only truly original chant in all of college football is whoever did it first.

Ours will be original because we will be the only ones chanting we are monarchs.

Please do this before the game and disregard the naysayers. The vast majority of fans support this just like they supported the cannon.

I didn't complain I just suggested we don't do it. You gotta admit if people hear 'we are ....' most would associate it with Marshall. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think the saying itself is corny.

Screw a chant .... I'd be happy if people would just stand up and make noise when ODU is defending a third down.
+1 for "We Are - Monarchs" chant

We already have our O-D-U chant that still gives me chills when the whole crowd is doing it, but we need something different.

Don't make it difficult for Dr. Chandler as it sounds like he's set to do it. THIS is our chance to get it started! THANKS Dr. Chandler!

I am all in for this! As i mentioned much earlier in this thread.
We need a way to get psyched up for the 4th Qt. There are so many ways to use multi media to start this and then lead into a Chant!!
One other suggestion......

What about a 3 sided chant?

One side chants O, student section chants D, next section chants U.

Don't worry about the booster section, they won't even be there until the game has started.......but a 3 sided chant could be awesome.

Right side, two end zones, Left side (Home)
Love all the suggestions. Since we need to land on one thing that we can all plan for, and because we've already got the "WE ARE MONARCHS" chant in motion, we're going to give it a chance on Saturday. I'm open to trying other ideas moving forward, but we need to start somewhere. Lots of recruits coming in on Saturday from the 757...if they see the entire crowd participating and hear the power of your voice it will have an impact on them no matter what we are chanting. If we can make an impression on the recruits this first time out that will be a success unto itself. Even if you don't agree with the context of the chant, help us out for that reason. We don't need to reinvent the wheel this time around. If it goes well we'll try some other things.
Can we figure out a way at the Stripe the Stadium game to get everyone wearing white to yell WHITE, blue yell BLUE! I wonder how that would sound?

I don't know how much the "card trick" cost but ot sure was great!

I agree with the poster who said the very best is the O-D-U chant. Especially at the TED when everyone is into it!
Homselr is like "EF Hutton." When she talks, people listen.
We are Monarchs it is...you have my full support and I will rally as many people as I can. Cheerleaders I hope will be holding signs and leading the chant !!! East Side and game day building....we are, then students end zone and home side Monarchs !

Loud and proud Monarch nation !!!
I hope the forceast doesn't scare people off. Opening home game should be fun, but we need butts in the seats.

People showed up for JMU when it was a dark rainy day, as well as Delaware! I'm hoping tomorrow it's the same. If I wasn't already going to the game next week and lived in HR I would be there rain or shine. Let's go Monarchs!
We are Monarchs...

Simple and true.... Ready to increase the volume
I went to the dark rainy JMU with walking pneumonia.
