Too early in week to worry too much about that.

If Hampton were to be invited to join the Sun Belt wonder how long NSU lasts as a D-1 school? Without their natural rival having annual home and homes in other sports will they have enough money to stay D-1? I suspect not. They barely keep up with Hampton U and other MEAC schools now.

I seem to remember reading that NSU only moved to D-I because Hampton was moving and they didn't want to be separated. If Hampton leaves the MEAC, that combined with NSU's issues might send them back to the CIAA. Which might be better for them in the long run anyway; they do much better at the gate against Virginia State than they do any of the MEAC schools.

100% chance of a sellout. It's official now.
The NSU game is officially a sell out.

New depth chart in Gameday Central has some interesting and confusing things.

Butler is listed as no. 1 Right Tackle and Mewbourne no. 1 LT. Looks like Garcia has been demoted. Rob Thompson moved from CB to no. 2 free safety behind Davila. I really don't understand how Tim Ward is listed as 4th DE. Very intriguing that Pascal is not even a starter and was the all conference preseason pick. There still must be something going on with grades or discipline.
So ODUBleedBlue says we are favored by 24.5!

Anyone else feel that line is too high?

I am not sure. What are their strengths and weaknesses this year? The last time we played them they smothered us in the red zone with their pass defense and we didn't even try to run when we should have.

This link kind of typifies what coaches are doing to counter the spread.
Villanova, Maryland, Liberty, and NSU were particularly effective with their variants of the 8-3/7-4 against us.

Our offense now is so much more versatile, and being larger, faster, and stronger than NSU; we should run roughshod over them.
24.5 may actually be a little low.

I think the spread is in the right ball park. I can see a 42-17 score. Maybe it will be a little less or a little more, but I think that spread is just about right. I think we will prove to be too big and too strong for the Green and Gold.

All of that is predicated on decent weather. With heavy rain, we still win, but scoring will be reduced.
Could be a nice game to boost Shuler's and the defense's confidence. Can't ask for more out of Lawry. We need the passing game and defense to click a lot more to stay in the ballgame with NCState.

The main reason we are not coming is many of our fans don't believe we will win. The second reason is the paper reported that all the tickets had sold out. I was very pissed, thinking I missed my chance to buy a ticket until I found out the pilot was wrong. The third reason is because no one knew that ODU gave us a second batch of tickets. We found out in the paper in an article saying we were giving them back. I still wonder how long did we have those tickets and were we made to give them back so fast. Oh well, doesn't matter now. Rain or shine, I look forward to seeing y'all kitty cats getting kicked all the way to the liabrary, lol. (God, I really hope that was photoshopped, stupid contractors) Behold the Green and Gold

Yes, please?
I'm lazy and old...

The gist of it is that we are screwing them by not paying them for playing us; that we didn't come to their stadium in large numbers so they are "boycotting" this game; they want nothing to do with "predominately white" ODU (never mind that we have FAR more diversity than they will ever have); and they want their AD out because he "hangs on ODU's sack." Then it disintegrates into a discussion about who has the better MEAC fan base.

This game is a remnant of the six game contract signed by both parties before we had an inkling of going FBS which is why no money exchanges hands. The whole thread is sad, really.

You forgot the fact that we "returned 5000 tickets to them the Friday before the game". Had we returned them earlier they would have sold them.

You also forgot that they hate the Pilot.

To read that board was somewhat entertaining
With Lawry's big stats glinting in the rearview, I think NSU will start the game trying to jam the gaps and stop the run. Not that it will help much.
And the year we played there we were big favorites and how did that turn out? We won, yes but it was a nail biter was it not?

I think 24.5 is too high.

I don't know the answer to that. I do know that ODU has said it is a sell out. Maybe somebody in the ticket office could answer that.

Funny booman. I heard the contractor for the sign was a NSU graduate, lol.
Seems like some poor communication about tickets led to a lot of unnecessary angst.

It is not uncommon for small quantities of tickets to be released after a sellout is announced. When some of the tickets held for recruits, player guests, officials, or other internal needs are returned to the ticket office, they are put on sale and sell quickly. We are talking about 20-30 tickets. Nothing that puts the sellout streak at risk.
Way to feed the flames, unnecessary.
