Full Version: What if one of the top 50 NIU football players said this?

Will they find an offense that runs north and south this year? Will they find an RB at a school rich in RB history? Or will they continue to waste their talents with the spread? And continue to run their QB with a better arm than legs....."shotgun right zoom motion left fake reverse QB option draw left or right"....so sick of that play. With the oline they've had in the last few years, hand it to the RB and run it down their throats. The counter that. The play action on 3rd and short and get it to the, TE! The spread is a fad and boring to watch MAC QB's run. Have a run game, don't turn the ball over and play great defense. How many times did Turner fumble at NIU? What kind of defense did they have in 2003? 23 picks that year. And a pretty exciting brand of football!

I'm confused
i've gotta assume that since you've been around since 2006 you realize how vulnerable we were with only a RB as our weapon of choice. esp playing next level teams. we were always one tackle away from ruin.

i, for one, am a big fan of the multi-prong attack.

(all that is to say this thread wasn't the ramblings of someone "over served," which it kind of seems like it is)
Brad gave me appx -20 negs. He needs a hug.
Which one said that?
Based on the guys we know were there last Saturday, there are a couple of options: Cieslak, Pardridge, Jacoby. Plus a 4th who no one's named.

Anyone met one or more of them? Does the statement fit with one of them?

And there's an easy response someone could give to said player as why they run this system as opposed to the one they described:

How many conference titles has NIU won with the current system? 3

How many conference titles did NIU win with the power running game and tough defense? 0
I truly don't know how we win some of these games. Sometimes, I just think it's talent. I get confused by play calling, game management and what identity do we want to have. I think we try6 to confuse the other team so much we get confused. It takes a 1/2 plus to find an identity, which you can likely have identified what should have been done in the 1st or second drive. More often then not, it works out somehow which I again think is talent. Happened last week, happened all of last year. I can't tell if they play to Hare's strength, hide his weakness or just don't care.

I can assure one thing, to those who say we have run the spread for years and won, this is not the Lynch or Harnish spread. This NOT the same offense. I don't know what the Heck is going on sometimes. Maybe that's the goal.
I think this was a drunk post that started this thread?

ding ding ding we have a winner!
What if they said that?

Then they're an idiot.
OK, let me clarify. This is an actual post/rant/whatever from a former NIU player who was in the top 50 list. I'm not going to say who but if you're extremely resourceful you can probably find it. I'm asking the room what you think of a former NIU player saying that.
I think he's an idiot lol
I think they've been out of the league for a little too long. times have changed, playing styles have changed, even the speed has changed. Adapt or die.

.......oh, and we've been pretty successful in the spread offense, something about the 11 win seasons, and championships, and new years bowls...it seems to be working quite well.

I typed up a response earlier today and deleted it. I'll just +1 this.
I don't happen to agree with him but he's not an idiot, everyone's entitled to their opinion. The success we've had with the wide open offense speaks for itself. It's like he's advocating a move to pro style like CMU did and that hasn't worked out too well for them.
It's okay 81, I'll call him an idiot for you.
Googled this and searched Twitter for it. No dice. I'm out of resources. Maybe it is on that secret board.
