I saw an article on coachingsearch.com that highlighted some P5 teams with large numbers of true freshman on their two-deeps. It made me wonder about the SBC programs.

USA has six on theirs. A couple are listed as third at their position, but in reality they are co-second team or they wouldn't have been listed at all. There is one each at DT, DE, LB, CB, S and K.

This is a pretty high number, no doubt a combination of all of USA' graduation losses and good recruiting class.
I believe we had 3, one OT, one RB and one WR. The RB was very surprising, and the position where we might have expected to see some (recruited heavily (and well we hope)) DB, there were none on the initial 2 deep. That could change as the season goes on, but just those 3 for now.

To add... none of the three listed above were first team.
3. A first team LB, a second team nose guard, and second team bandit.
Two.

Landon Beck 2nd team DT.
We have 3 QBs listed on the depth chart, true freshman LG Williams listed 3rd.
As for App, I believe that they have 2 true freshmen on two deep for offense and defense combined.

Actually if we have 6 if you count co-second teamers at RB, Nickelback, and Free Safety
Troy has 9...one starter. Will probably drop to 8 when an upperclassman clears to play in a few weeks.

Yeah, we have a lot of either/or scenarios on ours...so 6 total. The Safety and RB situations are the most interesting, as both players in those spots had a great fall.

I can think of four off the top of my head. Johnson at OT, Flory at ILB, Hayes at CB, and Thomas at S. Rubino might have been in there also.
We have none, but that's no surprise. It's been pretty much our MO for a few decades.

JP Caruso at QB, Chandler Greer at RT, Malone at RG, and Edge-Campbell at C are all red shirts. I believe you got all the true freshmen.
I'm surprised that ArkSt and AppSt have so many true freshmen playing, considering all the experience both programs return. Must be some good young players.
we are alittle thin at OL and secondary, losing Pinkley, one of our best cover guy for the year with injuries, probably forced the hand of the coaching staff to add depth to the secondary with the two freshman. Surprised Flory isn't being redshirted, linebacker is one of the strongest units we have in terms of returning talent and depth, I guess he played so well in camp, they felt he could contribute right away.
Vic Johnson is supposed to be really good, might take over at LT next year after Harris graduates.

Our depth still isn't where it needs to be in a few spots due to poor recruiting before Satterfield took over. At least now the freshmen are being looked at for depth instead of starting like the last two years.
yep, SS keeps talking about once they add some weight and strength to Johnson, he is going to be really good.
I thought App St had 47 returning starters. How can there be room for Freshmen?

You bring in enough quality and they force their way into the discussion.
