Vandy coach Derek Mason finally found his super duper secret game situations list and what to do in each of them!!!!

This guy is a complete moron, from this deal to the whole "I thought we'd just show up and play like an SEC team" quote from their media days.

This guy is so fired by the end of the year its not even funny.
How Vanderbilt didn't put every dime they could into keeping Franklin is beyond me. Perhaps they'll get the hire after Mason right, but their track record isn't in their favor.
Its Vandy football which is historically bad on par with UK bad....James Franklin maxed out everything he could at Vandy, no way Vandy could have kept him even if they did max out his contract...Penn St. or Vandy? easy call for anyone in America...Vandy is just now back to being Vandy hopefully at least tom. night too, haha
I understand that but Vandy didn't even try. When Franklin came to Vandy he would go around to other schools radio stations and introduce himself and interview. The guy was a special class of person.
What's the injury situation for WKU tomorrow night? Seemed like you guys were concerned about some offensive linemen and maybe your Nos. 1 and 2 RBs?

Allen unless something changes between now and Thurs. night is ready to roll....Our backup RB is out and our starting RG is out....Other starting OL is probably not playing either....Our top WR is not starting but may play, so not sure there..Our starting LB may play, may not, so not sure there....As far as I know everyone else ready to go....

Got it...hopefully your backups can step up. Good luck, I'll be rooting for you guys!

Eh... Is Penn State a better job than Vandy? Sure. Is it dramatically better IF Franklin was able to even come close to sustaining his early success? I don't think so.

Maybe Penn State rises back to national prominence, but currently what are they? The 5th or 6th best program in the Big Ten?
Wasn't he from PA?

He is. It was a good move. Penn State is at least an average football team if not above average. They have a decent history as well and HUGE following. Vanderbilt has none of those.
Making an argument for Vanderbilt football vs. Penn St. football is laughable.....This topic really does prove some of you would argue vs. a brick wall, season needs to get here soon, 1 MORE DAY!
Seriously, that article sounds like something out of The Onion or Sportspickle.
Is it written in crayon?
That can't be real. So he wasn't prepared for last season because he lost his checklist?? OK, I feel better about WKU winning even without 2 starting O-lineman.

It is laughable, Vanderbilt is at the bottom rung of P5 football schools. Penn St has huge following is historically been one of the best football programs

I don't think anyone knows what Penn State will truly be post Paterno.

My point was Vanderbilt won NINE games playing in the SEC under Franklin two years in a row and they didn't put up much of a fight to keep him.

Again, my point about the two jobs was predicated entirely on Franklin maintaining that, which maybe he didn't believe he could, and even then I didn't say it was a better job, just that with Vanderbilt up under Franklin and Penn State shaky post Paterno, the two jobs aren't that far apart. Would you call Penn State a better job than Ohio State, Michigan, or Nebraska? I wouldn't, and at this point I'd hesitate to put them ahead of Michigan State or Wisconsin. So is the 5th or 6th best program in the Big Ten really that much better than an "up Vanderbilt"? Obviously fan support is a tremendous difference, but on the field? You don't think Franklin's Vandy teams could compete in the Big Ten?

But my larger point was simply that Vanderbilt should have done more to keep him, maybe it would have been all for naught, but they have deep enough pockets that they could have made him think about it and now Vandy is the same old Vandy.

One the highest revenue teams in college football, slipped to number 12 this year even after the fallout. Vanderbilt didn't even make the list.

There really is no comparison, a couple of 9 win seasons among all the losing seasons doesn't not come anywhere close to Penn St.

It is still one of the top jobs in college football. I would put it right below the Michigan and Ohio State head coach job

You guys really need to win against Vandy and Indiana. It's time CUSA shows the P5 what it's made of. We'll be pulling hard for you guys.
Watch Vandy win the SEC this year... That'd be gold. With two losses to CUSA teams... We can claim we're better than the SEC! 03-lmfao 04-cheers
